This is the best crochet book I've read
I had originally found this book at the library and found it so useful that I wanted to purchase a copy for myself. The written explanations are super easy to understand, and the diagrams that accompany the descriptions are very well done. Both of them together make crocheting super easy and accessible for self-teaching.I was so nervous buying a "used, like new" copy of this book, but the book that arrived was exactly as advertised! The copy is definitely like new, and I'm happy to have made this purchase.

Perfect for beginners and for reference
I have examined a great many reference books from the library and from fellow artisans. This was the best of the lot. It is compact, but sturdy. It has a nice metal ring binding system that allows the pages to stay open. The content is the reason why I kept it, however. The diagrams are very clear and very easy to understand (many books have overly complicated or poorly contrasting diagrams). It has all the basic reference stuff - but it also has a series of stiches that combine the foundation stitch with the classic stitch - eliminating the extra step of doing a foundation chain prior to beginning a project. This is especially helpful for both very large and very small projects. It is also helpful for large bulky yarns, because often you think you have made a chain loose enough for the bulky yarns, but as you progress in the project, you find that the foundation stitch is too tight - forcing a deconstruction. Back to the beginning. This is a wonderful, affordable piece. It is easily transportable. It would be a lovely gift to the beginner crochet artist.

Crocheting made easy
I had misplaced one I owned for years. Not crocheted for many years and needed a refresher. This Crocheter’s Companion is such a great reference especially the way it is organized and illustrated.

The perfect crochet tool for new crocheters and very experienced cricketers.
This arrived in great shape! It is very handy and answered a lot of questions I had about crocheting. I have crocheted for many years and this is just the reference guide I was looking for. It will stay in my bag next to me when crocheting at home or when I travel and crochet. It explains many stitches in an easy way to understand. I plan on teaching my granddaughter how to crochet and this is the perfect tool for that too!

Worth the wait
This book was worth the wait. It was shipped to an old address. It gives the crocheter guidance and information from beginning to intermediate crocheting. There is information in this book that is totally new to me. I've been doing this for more than 48 years. I can't wait to experiment. Let me not forget the bold, colored graphics, ease to read and understand, and of course step-by-step directions. It shows you how to follow gauges and patterns plus more. The price ($11.00) is decent. This little book fits into a workbag to carry along to complete projects. I HIGHLY recommend it to any crocheter of any level. Happy crafting!

Great resourse..but you'd better have good eyes!!
This gem is a great resource for all the basics. I'd say the best part of this book is its size and format. It easily fits in your lap as you work on unfamiliar techniques. The only down side is that the ink is not dark enough to easily read. Add the glare that the shiny paper its printed on and sometimes its a real struggle to read the instructions.

I wanted a go-to reference guide for patterns along the lines of "The Knitter's Companion" which I own and love. My experience crocheting is very limited so I ordered a pattern geared at beginners. Even so, the first stitch called for (Foundation Double Crochet, or FDC) is not mentioned in this book, so I had to turn to utube. This is disappointing especially as the volume is rather slim and honestly, how much could it have hurt to include an extra page. I don't know what else is missing or how useful this volume will end up being, but thus far the illustrations and explanations for the techniques covered seem clear and helpful, so I'm going to keep this and hope for the best.

A great book to own, from beginner to expert.
As every other reviewer has stated, this is a great book to be able to slip into your bag, to take anywhere with you when you'd like to be crocheting as you go. It is small and compact enough for convenience, but has everything you need in it's pages to either help you along on your first steps, or push you to do even more with your new skills.I can't recommend this highly enough :)Unfortunately, although it is advertised as having a DVD with it, I still haven't received mine, despite sending back my first copy, and waiting patiently for weeks to have the replacement snet - only to find that this, too, came without the accompanying DVD - which would have been of tremendous help to anyone who learns best from watching, rather than reading :(

One book for all
Whether you're new to crochet, or a seasoned expert, his book is for you. It has lots of handy hints and tips, and a great deal of useful information, like the transfomation between English and American sizes, which is very useful these days. I would recommend this book to anyone who crochets.
