yes they will know it is a basket, I believe there are instructions. Everyone really liked them. I got them last year so I don't remember exactly what instructions there are.

If opened & put on the counter or pantry, how long will fruit last?

I put it on the table where all the food was and it also work as an ornament because of the rich reddish colors that the fruits have. People ate it as an aperitif and then continued to take it from there. The rest that was left I kept in the refrigerator but it did not last the following week 😊
