These were fine for the price and served their purpose, but they are not much thicker than toothpicks. I bought for use with a chocolate fountain and for presentation purposes something thicker would have been better. Luckily my party was for 12 year old girls and they didn't care!

I use these in my outdoor potted plants to keep squirrels from digging the dirt out, which they do every fall when hiding their acorns or nuts for winter. This short size is perfect; I tried longer sizes and they were often too difficult to work down through the roots of the plant, or were too long for smaller pots. You need to use a lot of them: I fill the surface, maybe an inch apart each, and haven't had a squirrel problem since (points must be right at the surface -- any higher and the pests just push them out of the way).

After searching high and low for longer "toothpicks" we finally found these. The length is perfect but some of them splinter. I would buy these again.
