Anyone use it to fill small hole in a pontoon?

The question I would ask you is - how big is “small”? Marine-Tex will adhere to the aluminum great, but you can not thicken like you can epoxy resin to hold it in place over larger cracks or cavities. I would feel comfortable using it to fill a hole up to 1/8 - 3/16”. It would work well for a larger emergency repair. For a hole of 3/8” or larger, if I didn’t have epoxy resin that I could thicken, I would lay a layer of fiberglass cloth over the hole, after applying Marine-Tex over an area larger than the cloth patch. After that cures, put a second coat of Marine-Tex over the cloth. You can easily sand the Marine-Tex to smooth it all out when done, but don’t sand through the fiberglass.

You simply mix the two ingredients together and it’s ready to use.

is it light gray or dark gray?

It is a fairly light grey and it can be painted.

I’m repairing rock chips on the keel of a Black boat hull. Will this stuff be a close match in color?

Short answer - no, it cures out grey. If it is a deep chip, Marine Tex could be used as a thickened epoxy, then covered with gel coat tinted to match boat.
