Nonsense
Although the writer indicates that he could only produce this "novel" due to the previous work (predominantly by Henry Lesser prison gaurd who spent a lot of time with Panzram who was waiting to be executed for his murderous rampage across states and countries) I personally found his crass and lurid fictitious accounts of institutional rape and frankly, bizarre accounts of gaurd on inmate torture the stuff of not just pure fantasy but something far more base. If you are interested in the known history of the very dangerous and clearly murderous Carl Panzram then I would strongly suggest you save your money and purchase a copy of Panzram by Thomas E Gaddis. Yes it will cost you a few quid/dollars more but it's well researched and cross referenced throughout. This novel is just cheap. At times it feels as though it's bordering on disturbingly porno graphic interpretation of male rape, child rape and compleatly unverified and unsubstantiated accounts of institutional abuse. Anyone who is remotely aware of corporal punishment as it existed in the UK up to the mid 1960s I belive will be aware of the stringent safety regulations which occued and were in place. Those regulations weren't just in place for the sake of it. They were in place to stop inmates dying and staff prosecutions as well as as creating a moral high ground! Tuke, Bentham, Howard et al. I shan't bore you to far but a clear example from the book is the punishment of being beaten with a heavy leather strap whilst held in the prone position ie face down. A thicker leather belt was applied to protect the kidney region to ensure no internal damage occurred. Any damage to the sensitive area of the kidneys could quite easily lead to the death of the individual receiving corporal punishment. Blows were recorded and the prison Dr or medical officer present throughout. The notion of grown men left to beat a teenage boy at will for hrs without medical supervision is pure fantasy. Only one outcome would come about from such a thing. Certain death of the individual either due to shock, hypovolemic shock or just good old fashioned trauma. But it's just my opinion.

Fascinating!
I’d come across Carl Panzram before and thought I knew a little about him - turns out that’s all I did know - a little! Ryan Green really gets to the heart of the matter and his main character leaps off the page. Like other reviewers, I found myself empathising a little with the horrendous childhood endured by Panzram. I’m reading my way through all of Ryan Green’s books and have yet to be disappointed by this excellent author.

Gripping
I read this in no time at all. It's a short book that probably skips over the all the technical in fills that probably would be made up if the book was longer. So I think it's all crammed in at once so you can't put it down. There is parts which don't explain Carls recovery times when being severely injured which makes him a sort of super human, maybe a little or a lot exaggerated at times, still, this man is a Monster and it really shows that. Probably the most evil man who wasn't mentally ill but a hardened crazy psychopath

Decent read but full of inaccuracies
Decent read but some of it was pure nonsensical rubbish and at times doesn’t even match up with the source material’s account of what happened. After reading other sources it begs the question of why Green is greatly over exaggerating an already awful and gruesome story.By all means read this book but take it with a grain of salt

Very detailed.
Found the details of his assaults on little girls quite horrible. Have read a lot of true crime but he was truly a monster - almost sub human.
