The Elliot pecan tree is known for its deliciously tasty pecans. Originating in Santa Rose County Florida, this cultivar continues to grow in market acceptance thanks to its flavorful production. The Elliot has proven again and again to be incredibly scab and disease resistant, making it a very low-maintenance tree once planted. This cultivar thrives in warmer weather and will begin maturation and nut production in October. Its tear-dropped shaped nuts will shell to reveal light golden kernels at 72 nuts per pound and 51% kernel. Cross-pollinate with a Type I variety such as the Caddo or Pawnee. The Elliot tree is vigorous and strong and features deep taproots. The Elliot is hardy in Zones 6-9 and can be planted in full sun or partial shade. Plant in deep, moist, and well-drained soil.
