Very cool book. Straight from all the horses' mouths
Very cool book. Straight from all the horses' mouths. I learned a lot I did not know, and was reminded of a lot I did. Great Summer read for extreme metal heads.

Choosing to read Choosing Death...
Well, it covers the main bands at all the major points of interest... a more definitive book would need to be a very big book so this is pretty good for the broad strokes with some nice bits of horse's mouth info to flesh it out... fills in a few gaps in the average info base of the less fanatical grind core/death metal fan. I'm certainly glad I got it and that it was written. Can't wait for the definitive (and big, it better be a besser block of a thing or else it wouldn't even come close) tome to be released once someone with the nouse gets it done.Think that covers it.Go git it.Now.

Napalm Death, in Depth
The strongest part of this book, in my opinion, is the history of Napalm Death, Extreme Noise Terror, and Carcass. While the Florida death metal sections were well researched, the interviews with the Brits gave a more in-depth picture of the process, context, and personalities involved in the nascent grindcore scene. All around, though, a well-written and informative read.

PLAY FASTER
The only book about extreme metal that you need. Mudrian, a death metal/grindcore fanatic/expert, lays it all out in gory detail. This deluxe edition is an upgrade from the original (lots of new material) and well worth the money, even if you're a fan of the first edition.

A very detailed and well done work over the underground metal scene mid 80's to early 90's, which saw the birth of death metal and grindcore.
