As a LEO wife, it was super important for me to try and understand the new role my husband would take on. Great read. Informational and to the point with statistics. This book covers all the emotional/physical toll aspects of what goes on in a LEO’s life ON/OFF the job. Guides on the signs and and symptoms to look out for when LEO’s are screaming for help but not seeking.

I'm a former cop and now am a physician that medically advises Law Enforcement agencies. I do a lot of teaching and training officers. Somehow this book escaped by attention but was recently gifted to me in an older addition by a very, very good cop. Talks about the key points within the lives of L.E.O. The chapter on hypervigilance was a mind opener.

Survival is more than just on the streets. Take care of your head, heart, and soul. I have been in LE for 30+ years; I wish I had read this earlier. I bought this copy for my son, who is just starting his career.

Nothing I didn't like about it is the redundancy chapter by chapter but otherwise once he gets going later on it gets better.

I went to this seminar and then I purchased the book on Amazon for myself and many other police friends and family.The book is a great read as explains. Why we do what we do and why we feel the way we feel as police officers.Highly recommend for officers and their families.

Hands down the best advice and guide for law enforcement family members, to help us comprehend the emotional ups and downs for an LEO point of view. The case studies are very relatable. 5 star read!!!!

An absolute must read for any law enforcement family! Gilmartin breaks down life with a LEO: the good, the bad, and the ugly. He helps breakdown the mental and physical connections the job has with the officer and how to understand the ties. It’s an open door into how your officer works and thinks, along with how to respond and listen.

I thought in a couple of places it tended to give the police organisation, the government beauracrats or the medical/mental health regulator a pass regarding their part in the issue, but other than that, I thought it was definitely worth the purchase.
