Awesome!
I was tempted to take away 1 star because the switch FEELS flimsy. I'm giving AKG the benefit of the doubt by assuming it's just the switch button acting as a lever making it easy to move the switch, and that it's probably a good quality switch. Only time will tell and I'll update the review if the switch ever fails. The switch works perfectly and has a nice indicator of On or Off (though on a live stage I'm not sure how useful that is).I've used and own a variety of microphones. I like to get a different one each time since they each have their own character and I can choose the right mic for the job at hand. I have come to prefer the color of the AKG mics for vocals and this is my favorite so far for my voice. It has the perfect balance of warmth (good lows & low mids) and presence (good highs & high-mids) with just the right amount of presence boost. The super cardioid directional polar pattern did allow me to have more floor monitor volume without feedback. I'm using some high quality monitors (Crown K12) and this mic is a good match for that monitor after rolling off the lows fairly hard. Recording the live jam sessions the mic sounded equally good.I also picked up one AKG Perception P5 and can't tell much of a difference through the small amount of time I've spent with them. I THINK the D88 sounds better, but that may be the psychology of having spent more money on it. The response and polar patterns look exactly the same between the two, and the specs look the same, so I'm not sure what the difference is.Disclaimer: only used this for band practices and jams and have not had what I would call a real vocalist sing through this mic yet. Only male voices so far.

You can't beat the price
I have a large selection of mics but I needed some cheap back-ups and found this one. Seriously, a NEW mic w/ON-Off switch from AKG, comes with a case, a cord, and a clip! Do the math -that is a smoking hot deal for $29.00! I'm ordering another just cause!Last year I bought and entry level EV mic for about the same price. Its an excellent mic so I was going to buy another but the price almost tripled! That is why I'm getting this one.

They're amazingly good consider how cheap they are
5 stars for the price/performance. They're amazingly good consider how cheap they are. Out of necessity we did a live recording with them and our recording tech got a pretty good signal out of them. Youtube storm crows "cover me up" for a sampling of my terrible singing but I'm singing into one of these mics and playing fiddle into the other. Seriously amazing mics for the price.
