Guides are not rigid enough
Pros: I like that the slicing guide is easy to clean and I can collapse one side to easily retrieve my bread slices. I can cut the entire loaf of bread without having to move it within the slicing guide. It makes it quicker to slice the loaf.Cons: What I do not like is that the guides are too flexible. The guides move, causing the slices to vary from top to bottom. The material of the guides is too soft, and coupled with the flexibility, my high quality, very sharp, serated bread knife repeatedly knicks the plastic if I do not angle my knife just right. This causes really thin slices of plastic to get deposited on the bread and I'm sure, overtime, this will compromise the integrity of the slicing guides themselves. Harder plastics (think Bakelite) or resins would make for better material for a bread slicer.

5 Stars
This little unit is not only cool looking but effective. Guides produce even slices of an entire loaf of bread quickly & perfectly. This is our 2nd machine. The 1st one we bought was kinda OK but had only a few guides that were the right size for us. The bamboo unit wasn't as well made or as easy to use as this plastic unit. Having a decent bread knife helps, it does 90% of the work. I highly recommend this unit to anyone who bakes regular sized loafs of bread ( we bake sourdough) and wants to make breakfast toast or a nice PB&J for kids, a BLT, Ham, Tuna salad or a plain ole grilled cheese that actually toasts up and looks like one.

Versatile
You can adjust how thick you want your slice based on which slot you use. Easy to clean surface. The only drawback is storing it. It can be folded inside out to make it skinnier but it's still a bit bulky. If you have the room for it and make a lot of bread, it's a handy tool.

Heavy-duty and precise bread-slicing guide
A package was waiting for me at my front door a couple of days ago. The package was heavy, and I couldn't figure out what I'd ordered that weighed that much. Inside was the F-shopping bread-slicing guide. I was surprised, as the slicing guide is almost entirely plastic. I had a loaf of raisin-walnut bread handy, so I placed it in the slicing-guide and gave it a try. The slicing-guide was stable on my table, and slicing the bread evenly was pretty simple. The attached photo was the result. Pretty good slicing, if I say so myself.Just to make clear: This is not a bread slicer; it's a device that holds a loaf of bread and allows you to slice the loaf evenly. Also, as the name states, the red sides can be rotated downward, making the guide about two inches slimmer. Not a huge difference, but a nice feature.

After ten uses red plastic flakes in bread
At first, this was a perfectly easy way for me to slice bread evenly and fast. But after about ten loafs, I noticed the plastic was wearing down from slicing and worst of all flaking into my slices of bread. I had what looked like red hot shavings scattered in my bread slices. For safety concerns and who the heck wants to eat plastic in their bread, I just threw a complete loaf of sliced bread away along with the bread slicer since it was done.

Better than expected
I bought a Zojirushi bread machine in March and we were having difficulty slicing the loaves in a consistent size, plus we couldn't seem to cut straight!! I bought this one, I didn't want a brittle plastic, and while the wooden ones are beautiful I envisioned slicing splinters of wood with the bread. A little pricey, but most I looked at were about the same price range. This is a foldable slicer, but we use it daily (usually several times a day), so we leave it beside the breadbox. The red is pretty, too!

GREAT BREAD SLICER
I had one like this years ago and it lasted longer than I can remember. They stopped making them and I couldn't get another one. Then this red one came out and it is so great. No matter my size loaf of bread I can get it in the slicer and slice whatever thickness I need. It is actually sturdier than my original and I couldn't be happier. I tried other bread slicers and they ended up returned or tossed. Can't go wrong on this one!

Not worth the time, hassle, or money
I was excited when I found this. Due to the Covid pandemic I've been having to bake my own gluten free bread for the past year. My bread is tasty, but I would really like to have uniform slices the same thickness as store bread. Unfortunately, this gadget is NOT the answer. The prongs wobble when cutting the bread, so some pieces end up thick, while others are too thin...even worse than cutting it myself. I tried to be very careful cutting the bread because I'd seen reviews where people said they had red plastic shavings in their bread, but even going slowly and carefully I got a few red shavings. It's not worth the hassle and doesn't add any convenience or time saving. I returned it today.
