AxxessGm Data Interface with SWC 2000-2013, Black

Installed this unit on a 2004 Chevy Avalanche 1500 with the BOSE system (Analog amplifier, OnStar, XM radio) I called tech support since I had a few questions on the installation instructions. Some of the wires were not mentioned but it didn't matter since they were not all utilized. My Avalanche already had accessory power supplied to the harness so I did not need to install the extra RED wire that was directed by the installation manual. I just wanted to validate why these wires were not used. The wires on the harness and 16 pin radio connector were easy to match-up. I installed the AX-GMCL2-SWC unit with a Kenwood DDX9703S 2-DIN In-Dash DVD/CD/AM/FM Car Stereo w/ 6.95" Touch Screen with Built-in HD Radio and Apple Carplay. Only a couple of issues with my installation; my dimmer control doesn't work with the appropriate wires connected. Not sure if it's the CL2 harness, radio or wiring coming from the Avalanche. The dimmer worked fine with the factory radio. The work around is to turn off the dimmer feature during the day for full brightness and turn it back on during the night for dim mode. This temporary workaround is fine for now until I can determine the problem. Color coding was correct on both the factory harness and radio. The DDX9703 radio has a very thin slot when removing the guard so a standard HDMI connector won't fit. I will need to order a very thin HDMI connector to get the mirroring feature to work. All other features on the radio work fine. Pandora, spotify, iPod mode with my iphone 7. Some of my playlists are blank with showing "no content", I suspect its the firmware not recognizing the iPhone playlists. My BMW had a software update fixing this issue so I may have to call Kenwood to see if I can get this update. The phone calls are clear with the supplied Mic. When using my iPhone to NAV, the volume of the current song being played is lowered slightly when a voice direction is issued. (Nice Feature) I mounted the USB connector in the panel so I can plug my iPhone in for charging and for audio streaming. The chimes being produced on the GMCL2 interface sounds just like the factory tone and the volume can be adjusted by a small potentiometer on the box. Onstar volume can be adjusted by using the steering wheel vol up/down buttons. All functions on the steering wheel work and can be modified if needed. I left them as is since it duplicated the factory 6 CD changer/radio/xm settings etc. I also installed a SXV300v1 XM radio unit on the DDX9703 which worked right out of the box. I have not tested the DVD playback mode yet, not sure why you would sit in your vehicle and watch DVDs? I installed the supplied GPS antenna to the 9703 but not sure what feature this would give me other than setting the clock time automatically if you had a power failure. There is no nav mode or map on the DDX9703. (You would have to install extra hardware to get this feature) I simply use my iPhone for this function.

Very easy setup and when I did have a question, phone support was accessible. Great to have hands-free, SWC, and backup camera on my Pioneer deck in my 05 Avalanche through this unit.

I have extensive experience with installs but could not make this thing fully work, we finally gave up on the non working controls.

The AX-GMCL2-SWC interface works perfectly on my HUMMER H2. It immediately connects to the machine and manages the bose digital amplifier, steering wheel controls and original sounds. Arrived complete with all types of wiring. I would suggest a more robust packaging. In conclusion, the product is worth more than 5 stars.
