I love it cold...it's bigger than expected too
I ordered this pad because I have chronic shoulder and neck pain from an injury from long ago and I use both heat and ice packs depending on how I'm feeling that day. I found this and thought it was cool that I could use it for both hot and cold. I wanted something that had weight to it, not just a regular heating pad. When it came I was really surprised by the weight. It feels substantial...not like a plastic heating pad. I also liked that I didn't have to plug it in. It was bigger than expected so I had to fold it over twice to fit it in the microwave so my turntable would turn. The first try I heated it too long so I had to wait a minute to take it out. Next time I'll just heat it in 1 min intervals. It really does steam and there was some moisture but it was really nice. The heat was even all the way through and there weren't any hot spots. The pad is large enough to cover my whole back which is nice, and it stayed warm for about 15 minutes before it started to cool down.I also wanted to try it cool because I use ice pack quite a bit. Left in my freezer overnight in a plastic bag as the instructions. It wasn't as cold as I expected it to be...like my ice packs are, but it turns out I really liked that. Because it wasn't frozen like an ice pack and the material is soft I didn't even need to lay a towel across my skin. I just draped it over my shoulders. It's really hard to describe the sensation, it was cool...refreshing and relaxing. The best I can describe how it feels when you are hot and take a shower that is not cold...but cool. I really enjoyed it! It folds good so I could drape it across my neck and shoulders and because it has weight too it, it didn't slip off. When I use my gel or traditional ice packs, I have to use something to hold them on or lay against something. With this pad, I can just sit up and it stays around my neck and shoulders. Really glad I found this.

Small microwave and works great!
I have tremendous pain due to spasticity in my handfrom a stroke. Spasticity is when the hand wo t relax. My therapist used a clay heating pad similar to this and it worked wonders for loosening the muscles. This feels exactly like theirs just exactly and I expect good things. Great weight and warmth I'm 5 ft 1 in and it covers past elbow over fingers just like my therapists. Update 1 week love it. Floppy enough to fold and heat in my small microwave and I can drape it over my shoulder. No slipping at all and it conforms to your bodies contours perfectly!

Much Better Thank a Regular Heating Pad
This weighted heating pad does a nice job, it's much better than a regular heating pad. I use this when I have a sore shoulder from working out, and it does a great job. The weighting makes it stay in place and puts more heat on the shoulder, and the heat is moist and feels better than a regular heating pad. The clay beads can be a little challenging to disperse evenly, but otherwise I think this is a very good product.

Just like the one my physical therapist uses
When I tried it this morning, I wasted no time putting a second one in my "cart."I had tried a couple of the gel-type packs and found they heat unevenly, causing me to burn myself, and are uncomfortable, even with a wrapper, which is difficult to manage with an injury. This requires no wrapper and is comfortable against the skin 'as is.' The heat is even and comfortable. I didn't understand how the clay beads work and how the moist heat is generated. It is not necessary to wet the heating pad in any way. The beads draw in heat from the air. So it was soothing, moist heat without a mess. The instructions describe how to fit it in a microwave (by folding it in quarters) which worked fine with this clay bead pack. By contrast the gel-type was hard to manage even in a large microwave. This wrapped around my forearm just fine and was just the right weight to be soothing and effective. I read the accompanying material and learned these are made by a small family business. I like to support these when possible and they have a higher quality product than any other I have tried. it is exactly like the product my physical therapist uses so it is just what I was looking for. They include their contact information and it appears they are sincerely interested in addressing any customer service issues that may arise, though I didn't have any. I have not yet used this product extensively, having just obtained it this morning, but on first evaluation, it far surpasses any other I have examined, and is just what I was looking for.

Great warm moist heat for sciatica pain relief + EXCELLENT company customer service!!!
I've been struggling with sciatica in my right calf for over 3 years. I've tried many things and during some Physical Therapy, they used heat to help soften/loosen my muscles prior to manual manipulation/massage.I guess PT places use a special "hydroculator" unit which produces moist heat in a special manner. You can get one for home for like $1k but hahaha I wasn't willing to spend that. So I found this heating pad which produces similar moist heat and provides comparable relief. The pad stays heated for a long time, it heats evenly, and it has a nice medium weight to it. which I like when laying on my stomach and having it rest on my lower back. That helps it stay in place if I shift a little bit.I've also used it for "icing" and put it in the freezer. Be sure to put it in a zip-lock back to avoid it absorbing any smells from other things in the freezer.Overall it's a great heating pad, and moreover, the company and customer service is excellent! It developed a break in one of the seams and beads started falling out here and there. I tried things like tape but then you can't really microwave it.So I recently got a "marketing" email company checking in to see how everything is going... I wrote back not expecting a response for a day or two; but shockingly got a reply in 30 minutes!!! Joyce at the company offered to send a replacement right away, and said I'd get it in about a week. Low and behold it arrived literally 2 days later! I appreciate that the company has the customer's back and is willing to do the right thing to stand behind the quality of their productsHighly recommended!!!
