Compact Infrared Thermometer

Still testing this unit for use while fly fishing River but so far on the plus side it compares well with old mecury thermometer for stream temperature measurement. However the item description photos are totally incorrect. It shows a unit handy carrying case the key chain. In fact I received not case and the container received states that it includes a key ring and strap. Theses accessory items were not included? Not sure if I received a used partially returned item . In process of trying to contact distributor and may return to Amazon as this is false advertising. The unit itself seems very good quality so far, good metal case and digital display.

This is my second one, the first one I used for years. I'm sure the first one would still be working if it were not abused (harsh environment). I use it in a mechanic shop, to check engine temps, welding temps, bearing temps. (No more temp sticks, that melt at a certain temperature, and you have to have a hand full of different ranges.) I love it because it is small, I can pinpoint exactly the spot I want to check, in tight quarters (engine compartments). Unlike a bigger pistol grip type gun.I only wish it's range went higher. I think my first one was damaged when a young helper tried to check the temperature of a torch flame, while heating a bearing.

This is the best infrared thermometer for kitchen use, based on it's compact size and the temperature range. Fit's very neatly in a drawer or along side the stove and not nearly as cumbersome as the gun-style infrareds available.Word of warning - the item is no bigger than a minute, but the shipping costs for this item was over 30% of the total cost when I order it. It was worth the price of shipping to get the compact size for me, but not all may agree.

This device might just be the best portable thermometer ever. It's small and pocketable and will tell you the temperature of almost any surface in just one second. No need to reach equilibrium temperature.Go outside and point at a wall that's been in the shade or in the sun and you have the range at that moment. Pointing it a large wall from across the street gives you a quick average. Point it a surface up close and you can actually do a pretty good temperature mapping , like what is the hot or cold spot on your computer, air conditioner, etc. Don't point it at the sky unless you want to know that it's really, really cold up there. :-)I take it with me everywhere.

The button to change the units it's really hard to access. And once I change it to C it tends to revert to F every now and then. Other than that, it works fine.

Seemed sturdy, nicely constructed, handy size for pocket or keyring carry. Worked well for about six weeks, then displayed Er5 error code and no longer works. Customer service advised the electronics would no longer work due to magnetic field exposure ... strongest field it had been in was a laptop hard drive. Six weeks lifetime is unacceptable for $30. Will find another solution.

It's ok thing out of this world not sure how it can get an accurate temp. W out it touching whatever I'm making

My complaint is that the temperature reading is 2 to 4 degrees Fahrenheit higher than other thermometers. I've compared it to a professional infrared thermometer and digital desk thermometers.
