I really wanted to love it, but... it stopped working within a couple days?
I've had my bottle for a couple days now, and I really, really wanted to love it. A couple weeks ago, I found out that in spite of my young age, I have a kidney disease that has pushed me into stage three of kidney failure. The doctor made it clear that I needed to drink a lot more water or things would just get worse. That's when I remembered watching a video about a smart water bottle, and started doing quite a bit of research. I spent quite a bit of time comparing the smart water bottles on the market, and it sounded like Trago was going to be best. Despite it being scuffed up when I got it (weird packaging by amazon), I thought at first I had struck gold. The Good: - It looks really sharp. Without knowing it's a smart bottle, people have complimented it. A coworker is already planning on purchasing one. - As a water bottle, it works really well. Water stays cold, and doesn't pick up any taste from the bottle (which is really important to me). - Tracking at times has been pretty accurate. The Bad: - Mouth spout is a little awkward to drink out of. There's no air hole, so you can't just put your lips around it, and even when you carefully leave a gap, the water sort of glugs as it comes out. Not a huge deal, but it was one of the first things I noticed. - Has integrated lights, but it almost never uses them. Their website indicates that they are used mostly for in house testing, or BT indicators. Other bottles use lights to remind the user to drink when they're behind... that would be a great use of them! - Tracking can be really good or really bad. For example, yesterday I was told I had consumed somewhere around 59oz of water when I had only filled the bottle up twice (it's a 20oz bottle), and hadn't finished drinking the second fill. - The biggest issue, and why it only gets 2 stars, is that the bottle just randomly stopped working today. I've drank 2-3 bottles, and it tracked 0oz. I synced, unpaired and repaired, replaced the battery, etc, so hopefully it starts tracking again, but honestly issues already on only the third day of use is a pretty big problem. - No battery life tracker on the bottle or app... I guess I just assume when it stops working it's dead. This only occurred to me since it stopped working today. The Android app: (I wanted to add this as a separate thought since they can always update it:The app is a little clunky. I suggest downloading it and getting a feel for it before you invest. - It breaks up your drinking into three parts of the day, but if you're behind, you can't see how much you've actually drank for the current part of the day. It's nice to know I need "20 oz to stay on track" but I would prefer to know how much I have drunk (or at least have the option to toggle between them). - You can't customize your hours for the three parts of the day. I work (and sleep) unusual hours, and I wake up way behind my water goals. - The total water consumption, which in my opinion is the most important, is in tiny letters at the bottom that you have to scroll to see. I'd prefer to be able to see a tracker for the whole day as an option instead of the three parts of the day, or at least have that writing at the top. - No widgets. :(

Battery and Battery Compartment Issues, but when it works it's fun.
I was really excited about this. I love gadgets that let me track stuff. It turns health goals almost into a game. So I got the first bottle and one of the little clips on the battery cap was bent. They seem fairly fragile and could for sure be made sturdier for the longevity of the bottle. So I processed a return and Amazon promptly sent me a new one. I finally got the battery in and the new one wasn't working. I was trying everything I could think of. It would pair but then not read anything I drank. Eventually while going back and forth putting in and out the battery to do a "hard reset" and deleting and re-installing the app and unpairing and repairing the cap I eventually got a message saying the battery was low. So I grabbed the battery from the box of the bottle with the broken battery compartment cap and swapped them. I got it paired and things seemed to mostly be working for a while. Sometimes it didn't seem like it would measure what I was drinking. One day I was told I drank -1 oz of water. I'm not sure how I managed that.About 4 weeks later it completely stopped tracking water again. One random morning when I opened the app to see if anything was recording that day it told me the battery was low. Based on this information I've decided a couple of things: 1) The batteries sent with the bottles are either very old or are a horrible brand. They're Panasonic so I bought some other brand and will test how that works. In other words, maybe just start with a new battery. 2) The app should really push a notification to your phone to tell you as soon as the battery is getting low because opening the app doesn't always notify you and I can only imagine that it stops tracking water when the battery is low.On another note, when I went to change the second battery (mind you I've only been using this sporadically about 5 weeks), the battery and compartment had maybe rust all inside. I never completely submerged the cap in water but did lather it up and put it under running water to rinse all the soap off. I do need to wash and sanitize things I eat and drink out of but thought I was being extremely careful and yet there was rust in there, so the seal isn't that good on the battery compartment.I wiped the compartment out with a dry tissue as best I could. I'm guessing that even without submerging the cap the battery compartment is so prone to leaking that just rinsing it under running water is getting too much water inside the battery compartment. So if anyone has any tips on how to wash the thing without getting water near/on/in the battery compartment I'd be interested to hear it because I do like it when it works.** Adding an update. I changed the battery and it just isn't working. It's such a shame because I love the idea and the few times it worked it was fun and exciting. Maybe I'll try some future releases or other brands.

Only as a novelty item, not really reliable for hydration tracking
1. Mostly fails to detect amount of water being drunk. Only once in 8-10 attempts, does it detect the water amount. For example, I had had > 45 ounces yesterday morning but the app detected only about 8 ounces.2. Inside the settings, there is an option called "Sync" but pressing it doesn't seem to do anything. Does it do any sync at all?3. Every time I close the app, upon reopening it, it says "Not connected" again but navigating to Settings shows that the cap is paired. So it is confusing whether it is paired or not. Need to unpair and pair again just to get the message to say "Connected" each time.4. Following the trouble shooting instructions in the provided manual, I have followed all steps like closing/opening the app, unpairing and re-pairing the cap, and even uninstalling and installing the whole app, but the sync between cap and app is very unreliable.5. Once in a blue moon, the cap seems to work well, detecting the water being drunk but just when you hope that it has somehow become reliable, it becomes lifeless once more and refuses to detect for an entire session. In summary, instead of tracking our water consumption for us to make it easy to track our hydration, this non-functional product is adding another burden on us of having to remember ourselves how much we actually drank. Worst 70 bucks ever spent on Amazon!
