excellent book
The book is well worth reading if you want to know what the LRDG actually did which was a lot. It also tells of some of the exploits of the SAS under Maine and Stirling.

A memoir, written just after the events it relates
This is a well written book, authored by one of the original leaders of the LRDG. It took me a while to realise that it was written during the War, shortly after the events it portrays. Some of the “language of the time” may cause offence to some, but it was not written to offend. I was amused by the fact that some passages are written in Latin and French that author confidently expects the reader to be able to translate! It is a great historical record, a real insight into those brave men and a useful cultural record also.
