Bug spray is really easy to make. I used to make them complicated, but this simple formula works the best (plus it helps sooth itchy bug bite!I was a skincare manufacturer for many years. It's important to know that essential oils need to be diluted to about 2% in order to be considered skin safe. I've seen many unsafe claims on the internet.To get around doing a bunch of math, you can use the simple trick of 1 drop of essential oil per 1 ml of liquid. For example, I'm holding a 10 ml atomizer spray bottle. So I added 10 drops of Lemon Eucalyptus essential oil then filled the rest up with witch hazel. Since there's no emulsifier in the formula, you just need to shake it before every use.

Makes great mosquito repellent! 32 drops plus 1/3 cup of witch hazel and 2 tbl of vanilla extract. Better than deet and non toxic.

I counted 60 bites over the week. That number is down to 3 now. It's not 100% deterrent, but it's pretty good. I'll take that any day.I dumped all of the oil inside the spray bottle and filled it with water. It was approximately 1/4 oil and 3/4 water.Shake the bottle vigorously before spraying. Spray liberally; one spray layer to the skin is fine.Fair warning: you have to hate bites more than then herbal smell.

I literally watched a mosquito frantically hover around my arm trying to land on me until it gave up and flew away. I live in a tropical environment where I would get bit all the time. I don’t want to use deet and natural repellents barely help so I was just dealing with the daily bites. Enter: lemon eucalyptus oil. This stuff works so well. I love the scent, but it is very strong so you only need maybe 1/2 a dropper diluted in witch hazel to make a spray. I expect this bottle will last me at least a year, which makes it a really good value. Highly recommend! I love that I’ll never have to buy bug spray again.
