Absolutely loved it!
I’m a huge fan of Irène Némirovsky and her writing style and actually made it my goal to read all of her books eventually. “Dimanche” is a collection of short stories, however, every single one of them is so different from the others and so deep and well-written that all of them could have been easily made into full-length novels. The characters are multi-dimensional and unforgettable, and the tone and message of each story will leave you reflecting on certain issues long after the last page is turned. And, of course, how can I not mention the atmosphere of France of 1930s, with its peculiar spirit and character? The smells, the views, the bars and streets, the lifestyle itself comes alive in each story, making it a real treat for all fans of the historical fiction genre. Absolutely loved it!

Irene Nemirovsky was a great writer, taken from us too soon
Irene Nemirovsky was a great writer, taken from us too soon. Her writing is more perceptive and more nuanced than anything I've ever read. I've never really enjoyed short stories, preferring long books that develop characters and their stories. This book of short stories has turned me around 180 degrees.I cannot get enough of her magnificent work. Her murder in Auschwitz is one of many tragedies arising out of the horror of Hitler.

...can match these words. This author has ruined me for current authors, and I thank her for that - most sincerely.

Wonderful reading
These are really great short stories in the tradition of Maupassant and Chekhov. First two have slightly to similar voice, but are still very well written with both interesting stories and characters. I actually listened to the CD version while commuting, and highly recommend it! (Not commuting, but listening to Dimanche, of course...)

Wonderful stories.
Nemirovsky stories are well written and evocative of the period before and during WWII. After having read Suite Francise and Fire in The Blood, I was prepared for her style of writing. She did not disappoint. It is so sad that Nazi cruelty killed such a wonderful writer.

Various Short Stories by Irene Nemorovsky
These stories showed the development of this author in her ability to express various themes and characters. Much richer than her earlier works where she focused on one character.

Pleasant to read
Lovely set of short stories that cover aspects of French life during the war. Not as good as her other novels but those who enjoyed other Nemirovsky books will like this too. Pleasant to read.

Good read
Very pleased with this book, as the author was living at the time she wrote makes it all that more intersting, not just someone imaging what the times were like. Very prompt service.
