A Buzz in the Meadow

Inspirational
A book well worth reading if you're concerned about the future of the planet. Practical if you want to do something about it - like creating an insect-friendly environment, however small.I just didn't know how many species of bumble bees there are - or were. And I certainly know more now of their feeding and breeding habits. Read and enjoy!

An entomological extravaganza!
A run through the evolution and a gentle walk with nature! Excellent writing as an entomologist and naturalist. As a nature photographer and a naturalist, I greatly enjoyed ever page. One of the very best from the recent times.

A Good Buzz!
This is one you have to take one chapter at a time and then think about it...and it's well worth the thinking. An excellent book by a very thoughtful curious, and interesting writer.

The Ecology of Meadows
This book is, as is typical of all of Dave Goulson's books, a highly readable account of ecology. In this book, the spotlight is on the ecology of meadows. Goulson vividly describes the interactions of plants, insects, small animals and birds, the risks presented by pesticides and herbicides, the loss of biodiversity. This is not only a list of statistics and their interpretations, but a personal account of his experiences after buying land in southern France. His goal is to slowly return the meadow of the title to a more natural state, and this very process is described, as well as the process of rendering the house coming with it habitable. For whoever is interested in nature, appreciates life in its various manifestations and is even the least bit concerned about what is happening to it will find this book a read both informative and entertaining.

A buzz in the meadow. Decisamente bello.
Interessantissimo, come il primo libro di Goulson, "A sting in the tail". Leggendolo, ci si rende conto quanto la natura abbia reso difficile a tutti, animali grandi e piccoli, insetti, e uomini in ugual misura
