I don’t do it …………
This is a sort of walking boot. I don’t go tramping around hills but got it because it’s Skechers and is a good winter boot.I needed an arch fit boot because of planters fasciitis. It’s not waterproof but as long as it’s splash proof that’s splendid. It’s extremely comfortable , doesn’t require breaking in, looks good , fits perfectly for size 9. I cheated and fitted some lock laces as I can’t bend down too much which is bloody magic cos it just floats on with a shoe horn which is smashing. The wide fit is ace and let’s your toes wiggle themselves to a frenzy.Customers complained that the laces came loose - be a lazy nurd and get lock laces which makes them a semi slip on which actually makes you wear them more as you don’t have to ponce around tying knots.Anyway - never mind the cosmetics - it’s a cracking boot !

Skechers Men's Arch Fit Recon Percival Hiking Boot
I really wanted a Skechers pair of walking boots which contained arch support - the only problem is that the description didn't state that they were a 'relaxed fit' - i.e. they're wide! I am standard and they didn't fit, in fact my foot rattled around in them, despite donning a pair of thick hiking socks. It's a shame because they are lovely to look at and seemed comfy. Duly returned via Amazon's excellent returns policy.

Comfortable but few issues
Firstly, these are very comfortable boots, I've just completed a 12.5 mile hike in the Peak District and my feet feel fine (far better than some other boots I have), so perfect from my point of view. The only downsides are:1. These are classified as water repellent, they are not waterproof and indeed there is no cover from the laces up, so anything more than that height, you're going to get wet feet.2. The laces, too many eyelets so its difficult to tighten them fully which gives more movement than I'd like and also provides less ankle support for that reason.Overall however, very happy with my purchase, I went for a size 9.5 (normal feet are a 9), plenty of movement for thick socks so I'd suggest you don't go a full size up (which tends to be the norm).Plenty of wiggle space for my toes too which I like, some boots can be quite tight.

Comfortable with good support
They are a little big but I'd not want to recommend going a size smaller. They give great support. I'm suffering plantar fascia & these help me to get walking.
