what is the max leaf opening for these slides?

How do you choose the steel slide versus the wooden slide on this item?

Wood is much more stable when extended.

My table colsed is 68" It opens another 40" when extended. Will these sliders be strong enough for my tabel?

My table used 5 piece extension slides so it opened to about 60 inches for all the leaves. This required my adding an additional support leg to a cross bar attached to the extension slides, in the middle of the span. (I could have added 2 legs even) So for a 40 inch span I'd add one support leg. There are premade table legs available on line in many different styles so you may be able to match your table.
