I bought this to repair the factory sub in a 2001 Tahoe. We bought it used and after opening up all the doors/compartments we noticed that the foam ring was completely deteriorated on every speaker (it was obvious when the radio was on and you could barely hear anything). For the door speakers I just replaced them (I used some speakers from bestbuy that were $20-30 a pair and fit nicely), but when I searched for a sub that would fit the cheapest I could find was $80. I figured I would give this a go for how cheap they are and it went pretty good. The sound is a night and day difference and the process wasn't too hard, I just scraped away what was there, cleaned it up with rubbing alcohol, and then used the cheapest super glue I had handy (dollar store brand in the junk drawer for the win). I wasn't sure how well it would adhere but it worked like a charm. TL;DR: Revived old factory sub and saved ~$70, sounds better than it did and wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

I had (2) pairs of 8" Pioneer marine speakers in my boat and the surrounds were rotted. I tried these and after watching a few Youtube videos went to work. You have to be patient and glue the outer rim one day and the inner rim the next but they worked beautifully. When I got done they looked and sounded like new speakers for less than $20 with the adhesive (not included with the surrounds).

The foam came folded really tightly in 4 folds, in a small rounded / pouch ... when you open the package it does not look like a foam ring at all it looks like chewed up messy ball of goo mess. I had to lay them flat for a couple of days in the hot weather for them to regain their ring like shape. I am sure the packaging has affected the longevity of the product, why not shipping them flat with a cardboard backing?
