Totally worth it.
It is one of those "magic pedals" that makes your guitar sounds better. I know in theory how compression works, but don't know why this pedal is better than some other brands / models. It's just better. Totally worth the money.

Better than I expected
After watching multiple videos I decided that it appeared that a Compressor pedal was what my tone was missing. That turned out to be the case. A nice clean boost and improved tone. One of the pedals I don't regret buying.

A must have for every guitarist!!!
I've never considered a compressor as an overdrive or dynamic effects processsor. Although it can be considered an "effect", it is something which definitely alters the sound of your instrument. I have a couple of rack compressors, but dialing them in never gave me quite what I wanted. I never even understood what they did or their importance for about the first ten years after I started playing. It was when I started working in a studio that I discovered what they did and how important they were to your sound. After that I never played without one. The Boss CP-1X is without a doubt the best compressor I've ever owned. No matter how you set it, it always makes you sound better whether using it on an electric or acoustic guitar. Once you start playing with the settings, any guitar you play will sound better. I first started using it with a Strat though a clean amp to learn which settings to use for what I wanted to hear. Now I've learned to dial in great tones even with a PRS on a high gain amp. Boss knocked this one out of the park with the simplicity and great tone compared to much more expensive (and complex) compressors. Every guitarist should have one of these in their effects.

This thing sounds fantastic.
Could not recommend this higher. I bought a TC Electronics Hypergravity Compressor because it got great reviews. I did an exhaustive A-B test, and it was not even close. This is the only pedal I use, and I leave it on all the time. While watching videos on the Boss CP-1X, one reviewer said regardless of where you set the controls, you can't get a bad sound out of it. I wholeheartedly agree. Save you money and time, buy this one.

High quality Boss product
I don’t know very much about compressors. But this one works fine out of the box. It comes with a 9v battery Installed. Battery seems fully charged. I use mine with a Donner power supply. Since my knowledge of compressors is limited as yet, I will spare you my opinion of how good or bad it is. But it seems very robust, like all Boss pedals are. Just plugging it in makes my guitar sound better, so that is a very good sign. I am very happy with it and look forward to using it a lot.

Easy to get the sound you’re looking for
I needed a compressor of which there’s a lot out of different good ones out there. I was like okay, well I have a bunch of other pedals in front of me right now and 3 of them are boss soooo ya, gettin the cp1-x. Can always return it and get a cheaper one that I’ve seen good reviews for whatever. Can say I will never be returning this pedal and I will never not at the very least always have it on the board. One of the guitars I play a lot with is a strat w/ low output vintage pickups. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the sound on that guitar but I can say unequivocally that adding the cp1-x and setting it how you need in front of the clean tones coming out or that thing already as basically the equivalent of trading in your Porsche 911 for a new Ferrari. Getting it really really dialed in properly only took like 90 minutes and I have not changed it once since. That was like a month ago. I don’t use it all the time but def will always be on the board at the very least. Hope this helps!
