Metallica: Death Magnetic

The notes on the pages are the same ones on the album. What more could anyone want from a transcription? Metallica's awesome, astonishing and brilliant Death Magnetic faithfully and accurately represented on paper. Oddly as I write this I have just returned from seeing them live at the Arena in Newcastle.

Death Magnetic may not be what you expected after the release of St. Anger, and thankfully it is everything a Metallica fan could hope for. I was hesitant at first, but thankfully this album brings back the glory days of pre- And Justice for All Metallica. So I bought this tab book. Every song except for All Nightmare Long is in standard "E" tuning and printed in clear Guitar Tab and musical notation. The cover says that it is "Artist Approved" but I still found myself finding easier ways to play certain licks instead of how they appear in this book. One example is from "That Was Just Your Life" where bar 24 comes in. The book suggests that the riff is mostly played on the "E" string, where I found it to be much more effective playing the open E for the triplets and the rest of the riff on the A and D strings. I'm not sure if this is actually how James or Kirk plays it, but I find it to be more intuitive. However, the notes are accurate, as is the tab. If you are looking for a Tab book to play the guitar and solo tracks of Death Magnetic, then look no further. This is a great tab book for an album that has been a long time coming.

Ich kann Bewertungen nicht nachvollziehen, die dieses Buch als "sehr ungenau" beschreiben oder wenn gesagt wird "Overdubs fehlen" etc. Soweit ich es gelesen hab, hat der Transkriptor sich alle Mühe gegeben, die Gitarrenspuren korrekt zu notieren und eben auch zusätzliche.Das einzige, wozu ich nichts sagen kann, sind die Tabs, da ich die Noten gekauft hab um sie für andere Instrumente zu arrangieren und daher die Noten lese ;). Ich kenne es aber aus der Bass-Version des gleichen Albums, dass ich als Bassist manchmal andere "Wege" wähle. Aber das ist für mich kein Grund das Buch negativ zu bewerten.

Good but confusing in places because of some of the symbols used that my level 4 grade son does not fully understand.

This wasn't the book I wanted. It only has the rhythm guitar parts but no solos. Was wondering if I can send it back and get a refund?
