VIZIO SB2020n-J6 Home Theater Sound Bar (Renewed)

My entertainment unit, as pictured, has a little space that seemed perfect for a compact soundbar. Since TVs are getting thinner and only apple can make great sounding tiny speakers, even a small soundbar like this can make almost any modern tv sound much better. This has been a great budget solution for a person who wanted budget, aesthetics and good enough sound. This soundbar solved three main things for me: 1) Perfect size to not be an eyesore in my living room. 2) Superior sound to my tv by a huge leap; while there are much better sounding systems, a soundbar is always meant to be about cost and convenience compared a true sound system. Perhaps a 2.1 setup would be preferable, but for under $100? Forget about it! 3) No more rear-firing speakers!! I love modern tv design, except that there’s no good place for built-in speakers. So by firing towards the wall, with bad quality is a lose-lose in my book. Additionally, with two young children, I can watch tv with my wife after the kids go down at a higher volume since the speakers are no longer firing back in the direction of their room. Downsides: 1) bass: not a downside for me; it has superior bass to my tv and it doesn’t hit the lowest frequencies but there are limitations to physics and sound output. Small speakers mean no big bass. 2) volume cutoff: this is a peculiar one. If the registered sound input is too low, the speaker will not output the sound. You’ll see this as a frustration for most reviewers. The solution is to keep television volume high and adjust the soundbar volume. Small adjustments to tv won’t effect quieter scenes, so you’re not 100% dependent on soundbar control, you’ll just need to find a sweet spot or only do soundbar control.

This renewed product came in a Vizio Refurbished box with all accessories. Everything including the soundbar looks brand new. Hookup is easy via optical cable from the TV. The sound adjustments takes some getting used to as the soundbar only has a single LED for status (the more expensive Vizio soundbars have multiple LEDs to display more intuitive status at a glance). It provides some voice prompts to help in making settings but you'll need to read the manual to properly set Bass and Treble. Best of all, the soundbar's sound is excellent for its size and includes a small bass reflex port on the back to enhance the lower frequency sounds (but you won't get pounding bass like you would from a dedicated subwoofer). This Vizio SB2020 replaces my older Vizio soundbar (SB2820) only because the older one is a bit too tall to fit under our new 55" TV and I wanted the TV to be mounted as low as possible. The SB2020 has a much richer sound than our old one and is much smaller, as well. Overall, it's worth trying the renewed/refurbished products since it's a great way to get an essentially new item at a good discount. If for some reason you get one that is damaged or worn beyond your liking, then you should return it for another one.

Was looking for a smaller sound bar for my 27" LG Computer monitor that would fit under. Decided a sound bar would do the trick. Found this model and saw a refurbished version. Was like it was new. Hooked it up, checked the settings (RTFM if you get stuck, pretty simple with the remote). Sound is very good, anything thing is better then the built in monitor speakers, but this has nice sound for music and movies I watch. Has what I needed which was an AUX INPUT, and not just Bluetooth. Once nice thing is that it also had and Optical input as well, but didn't try even though my DAC output from the computer has a SPDIF out. Kept it simple, basically plug and play. THE ONE ISSUE If you play the volume very low sometimes the speaker will mute. I only noticed this at night when I just wanted some low background music or watching a movie (well listening) at a super low volume setting. If you bump the volume a bit it doesn't happen, but not really a problem if you turn it up a bit. Just an issue when people are sleeping. Not a problem at all at any other listening level or if in a room that would be used with a TV since you would definitely have the volume above that threshold. Again, price for the refurbished was really good, came with all new accessories and instructions. Good price and seems very good quality.

I purchased this sound bar for my gaming computer to sit under my monitor. I wanted to replace the floppy left and right speakers and clean things up more. I was very suprised how good the sound was produced! Great bass and the DTS digital X sounds awesome when it's enabled in Windows sound settings. I wish I knew how good soundbars could be, I'll be buying another for my TV in my living room! The speaker doesn't have a HDMI input, so it's connected via optical cable which was not included in the package. No big deal since they are relatively inexpensive. Plus I don't to use another controller when connected to a TV, since the TV usually has an option to disable the onboard speakers and switch to optical. Anyway, switching inputs is super easy and the speaker audibly announces what channel I'm switching to, so it makes it a breeze. Excellent sound, great value. Highly recommended.

I bought the renewed version and took a chance and it truly paid off! I am using this as an under the monitor setup. There are 2 MacBook Pro and a desktop. I've connected the laptops using Bluetooth. The sound quality is amazing! Everything works as mentioned. It shipped with all accessories. The only thing I wish it had was the laptops could be connected via USB. That would've allowed my KVM to switch between machines including the soundbar. It's otherwise a bit tidius to disconnect Bluetooth speaker from machine so that the others can connect. That really is a very specific case. I'll still give it a 5 star.

Smaller TV's usually mean smaller speakers and a need for better sound. The size of this unit was perfect for a wall mounted 32" LCD in my office. The unit sounds really good for its size and the included remote also controls every function of the soundbar so there is no need to touch it once installed. However, be aware that this unit has no mounting options at all, it is apparently meant to rest on a cabinet below the TV and no other options exist. I was unaware of this when I ordered it and wanted to make it work because it checked all the other boxes for what I was looking for. Ultimately, some double-sided tape became my solution and seems to work fine because the unit is relatively light weight. Just be aware if mounting it is part of your plan, then you will need to be creative because there are no mounting holes, tabs, brackets, etc...

I mounted this sound bar on my master bedroom vizio tv. It works extremely well and I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

Sound: It gives a little added bass to my Amazon Echo Dot 4th Gen that's it and I still think the Echo Dot sounds Better. You can hardly hear the commands when you are hitting Buttons but when it syncs with my Echo Dot it actually sounds pretty cool but you have to turn it up at dang near full blast and hope yopu don't blow the speakers. Look: Cheap AF! I know people in the hood who DIY speakers that look better than this! Enuff on that. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Oh they want me to PRINT OUT A LABLE, TAKE IT TO A DROP OFF and then CHARGE ME almost $9.00 for sending it back. YES YOU READ THAT CORRECTLY. So far Amazon is post the bill because this COMPANY is like MIA (Sing along IF you know the Words) ...ALL I WANNA DO IS... ... AND JUST TAKE YOUR MONEY!
