How long does a blade last

Not long enough and I have reverted to my Fusion razer and blades I didn't like the experience at all

is this razor worth buying and are there any alternatives?

There are hundreds of alternatives including previous incarnations of the Gillette range. So far I've found this to give a very smooth shave, Replacement blades are a bit expensive but that is the reason for producing a new type of razor. I find the blades usually last about a month. I'm a satisfied customer. The handle could have a bit more 'grip' as it is easy to slip in wet hands.
