Great little lamp
I was a bit hesitant to order this little white lamp with magnifier due to the reviews being all over the map. Apparently, reviewers either love it or hate it. I'm in the "love it" with full 5 stars group. I give it 5 stars because 1) It's color blends perfectly with my white and pastel decor. 2) It arrived in perfect condition and it is the quality I expected... light weight plastic but not at all flimsy or cheap looking. 3) It is very portable! It is so easy to move from project to project: working on my computer at the kitchen table (matches perfectly with my 5 year old white MacBook), working on sewing projects (plus matches with my white sewing machine & serger), working in the living room on a jigsaw puzzle, doing beading work (the magnifier is great for threading needles and working on fine details), reading a book or fine print instructions (the magnifier is fantastic for reading microscopic print) and working on any assortment of projects I have yet to think up but I know will require focused light. 4) It sits very stably in place and provides plenty of bright yet non-glaring light that is easy on the eyes. 5) The magnifier is amazingly handy. It was not the purpose for my buy the lamp, but it is a feature I am finding to be very useful and handy. Overall this is a wonderful little lamp and is in one of the best buys I've made.

Works great!
I love this little lamp magnifier it’s small compact fits right in the corner by my end table have to do is pull it forward turn it on and I can do what I need to do. How wonderful to be able to see the little intricate things that I try to draw. It’s really great for anything that you need to see up close. You can also just use it as a brighter light which I do. Definitely worth the money. I love it.

good product, reasonably priced - STUPID design flaw
Decent lighted magnifier that is very helpful in cleaning my hearing aids, and will probably be useful for other things. However, there is a VERY annoying design flaw that would have been easily noted and remedied if the product designers HAD TESTED THEIR PRODUCT!! The itty-bitty FLAT notch that you need to lift to actually use the magnifier just can't be lifted. I couldn't find anything flat & small enough to get under notch to lift hood. I did a hack with a piece of tape and it lifts fine now, but shouldn't have had to do this. Grrrrr...

It's True, The Little lamp that could.
Easily worth the money. I bought a $60 lamp with LED's all the way around. Everything about it was 5 stars.... except for the lights. Very dim. Sent it back and bought this one.The fluorescent light is POTENT For Sure! Very crisp and clean. That's incredibly important. Magnification and lens is excellent for getting your detailed work done. Cord's 3 feet long. No big deal grab an extension. The base is stable and sturdy though it could be a little heavier. Not a deal breaker at all. The tube/neck from the base up is about 3 inches solid, after that it's completely flexible twisting turning etc... Well thought out design for positioning. Good looking well rounded design. It's true, don't spend the big bucks on something else. Price slash performance this is the one. Excellent footprint, takes up little room. Not big and bulky. When I turned it on the light output was Amazing. I whispered to myself, WOW that's what I wanted. Happy Illumination! 5 Stars

Guts okay but base very, very feeble
Its low price was a major sale point, but there were two problems with the lamp almost immediately. It stopped working abruptly, which necessitated opening the base. That problem was a broken wire. Easily fixed, but when the base was opened, the weights inside proved to be chunks of concrete in sandwich bags! They weren't formed, and looked as if they had simply been picked up at a building site. They were also not heavy enough to keep the base stable. The base itself is thin plastic. Problem #2 occurred when the lamp head was moved into position and the area where it attaches to the base fractured; the plastic also distorted, making it impossible to reattach.Even if had been possible, two problems in two days of use is one too many. The lamp was returned.

Durable
Bought it 2014. Still using the same bulb. The gooseneck continues to work perfectly. The cover on the magnifying lens still works. The lens is still clear.I use it for sewing, especially picking out tiny stitches, and reading the size of used sewing machine needles. Great for any fine print or details.

Not horrible, but I've owned better....
Definitely provides good light, and the magnification is ok. The gooseneck is extremely inflexible, however. This can be very frustrating when I'm working up close on projects and can't get the lamp adjusted to the proper height/position to be able to see the fine detail. I end up having to move my head to adjust for the distance, instead of being able to put the lens where I want it. I make woven/hand-stitched jewelry, and use very tiny seed beads, so holding my head at an awkward angle for any length of time is uncomfortable and painful, at times.Prior to buying this lamp, I owned one by another mfr. that was in the same price range as this one, but had a bit more magnification and the neck was much more easily adjustable. I had to replace it because the bulb burned out and the bulb was not replaceable.I do enjoy the small 4.5x spot lens magnifier on this lamp; it comes in handy on many of my pieces. But, again, getting the neck of the lamp adjusted properly to make the best use of the spot lens isn't always possible....
