Not worth it
I got this kit hoping it would be a good introduction to the techniques used in making jewelry with chains and that I'd be able to make some neat pieces to wear. It wasn't worth it.First some pros: I do really like most of the designs. Plus, there's a nice variety, so you get an idea of what effects are possible by mixing chain sizes and colors and adding ribbon or rhinestones. The included pliers are actually a 3-in-1 tool that serves as round-nose pliers, flat-nose pliers, and cutters. The tool is really useful for someone just getting started with jewelry-making.Where to start on the cons? While I like the designs, the instructions leave a lot to be desired. There's no list of the different chains included and some of them look pretty similar. As a result, you have to carefully study the photos on the front and back cover to figure out which ones to use for each project (there are no photos of the projects inside, just drawings). The "techniques" section includes only 4 techniques: how to attach ribbon ends and how to attach rhinestone chain ends (both of which I found useful), how to open jump rings (this section is seriously lacking), and how to cut chain pieces evenly (helpful to know, but requires a pin or needle which isn't included in the kit). The instructions on each project are minimalistic, and there's nothing on possible design variations or suggested resources. Pretty disappointing. The components are so-so. The smaller chains and the findings are fine, but the larger chains are so light they actually feel like plastic. I was excited to make the rhinestone-and-chain necklace until I saw the rhinestones. I wasn't expecting Swarovski, but these are just not sparkly, which is the whole point of rhinestones. This kit isn't terrible, but it's overpriced for what you get. I could have found most of the info from the project book online for free. There are plenty of jewelry-supply sites - Art Beads, Fusions Beads, Fire Mountain Gems, Rio Grande, Rings n Things - that have lots of free tutorials and design galleries. If I could do it over I would buy a couple of tools, some cheap unfinished chains and findings and look for design ideas on the internet.

Nicely packaged, but not worth cost
This product seemed like a good deal when I purchased it, but when it got here, it was obvious that the cost was mostly in the packaging. The beads, chains and pieces are also extremely cheap and plastic. My advice: save your money and purchase a better kit at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or any local craft store.

Good for the money
I got this for a gift for a friend. Yeah usually that means I got it for myself. But this was for my GF who really had an interest in making jewelry and so I thought, hey why not get a starter set. It was a good starter set. that's all.

Good as a repair kit.
I bought this for the parts and tools to use as a repair kit for some of my wife's jewelry. It works great for that purpose.

Perfect for a beginner
I was debating between a couple different jewelry making kits and this one was a perfect choice. I was able to create some awesome pieces using this kit.
