Where Is Baby's Birthday Cake?: A Lift-the-Flap Book (Karen Katz Lift-the-Flap Books)

I bought this book for my son a few months prior to his first birthday to help him learn about the birthday celebration. I also didn't want him to be frightened at his first birthday party with everyone singing to him, which is a lot of stimuli for a baby, so this book helped prepare him. This book is very colorful, filled with sparkley foiled pages and lots of cute surprises. It quickly became one of his favorite stories to read and was a well loved book. I now buy it as a first birthday gift for all the babies in our life. Karen Katz has yet again created a delightful book filled with whimisical illustrations that capture a baby's attention. The "lift the flaps" concept is wonderful for babies and toddlers. This board book is sturdy, but not indestructible. The flaps are glued on, so they can be torn off, but they do repair reasonably well. A great addition to baby's library!

Most children loves books. Reading to a child means love to that child. My granddaughter was one when I gave this book to her. It us bright and colorful, and she laughed with glee every time she opened up one of the flaps. Every time she sees a cake, now,Nashe thinks it is a birthday cake and wants some if the frosting. The storyline is fun and thrilling for a little child. I think one year olds are the perfect age for this book. Parents/teachers enjoy reading this book to their child. The child enjoys the flaps and hearing about birthdays. The illustrations are bright, beautiful, and colorful and depict the story of the birthday cake. Recommended. prisrob 07-21-15

For a little one's first or second birthday, this is such a special and sweet book to celebrate the day, with the thought that the little one will enjoy the book being read, again and again. It is full of nice pictures, eye-catching colors, and the lift the flap can be a source of anticipation and fun for a little person! I loved the lift the flap books that I read to my grandson which was 20 years ago, and now I try and give these books for gifts to other special children in my life.

I bought this book when my daughter was 10 months and we read it to her day & night (on her demand).... she loves this book. This book may have made her a book lover. She loves the lift-flaps... The book has a good story. There were times when I didn't have the book handy and if she would get cranky, i would start the story and she would calm down... Fabulous purchase. Now she's 13 months old and I stopped reading to her after her birthday... but I'm thinking of bringing it out again. Its just lovely.

My one year old loves these books. They’re sturdy, durable, and interactive. It’s helps my one year old stay engaged because he can pull the flaps back on each page. Definitely buying more.

My little ones, ages 1 to 3, LOVE these books. This is the 4th one we've added to our collection and we read each of them over and over. If you already own any others, it follows the same pattern - looking here and there until we finally find what we're looking for at the end! They enjoy lifting the flaps and seeing what's hidden underneath. I'd recommend any of these books but this one makes a great birthday present! :)

Our daughter loves Karen Katz's books; the colors, facial expressions, and patterns are wonderful, cute, and eye-catching. Our little one's favorite is "Daddy Hugs", and based on her love of that book, I picked this one out for her first birthday. It's colorful and fun, too, and there are large, easy-to-lift-by-little-hands flaps on every other page, and she has not torn the flaps off (yet). It's fun to read with her, and she enjoys looking at it on her own, too. However, I was disappointed to find that, as another reviewer stated, there are no longer sparkly images under every flap; the Amazon description is outdated. Only the cover and the last page (the cake under the flap) is printed with foil. A minor thing, and of course my little one doesn't mind, but worth mentioning.

I have a few of Karen Katz's books, and so far this is my favorite. Not only are the flaps engaging for little ones, but the colors in this book are prettier than others I own. I especially like the glittery sparkly foil colors on the birthday cake and under each flap...you can't tell by the picture on Amazon that it has this. I bought this along with Leapfrog's Counting Candles Birthday Cake and together they make a perfect first birthday present...too cute!

My 3yo grandaughter absolutely loved this happy book. She learnt the text and read it out loud to herself often. The little flaps drew her through the book - perhaps because they're more interesting than just turning pages and seeing the whole thing instantly...?

「Where is Baby's Bellybutton」を最初買いました。 そしてこの本は２冊目に買いました。 １冊目に買った「Where is Baby's Bellybutton」と比べると、ちょっと難しかったかな？と思いましたが、 息子はよくこの本で遊んでくれています。（フラップをめくるのが楽しいみたいです） 数日前に１歳になりましたが、私の音読みに合わせて楽しそうにフラップをめくってくれるので、買ってよかったです！ 外国物の絵本を息子の日常に取り入れてあげることにより、日本のものにはない感性が養われると考え、購入しました。 続編も徐々に購入したいと思います。
