Now We're Talking
Want to know how I feel about this case? I, in the space of four days, have purchased three...two more to follow for the last two Henry rifles that I plan to buy at this time. Take a look at my review of the Plano Pillared Single Scoped case. In THAT review, I tell you all that you need to know about why you don't want it, and I tell you why THIS case is worth every last cent paid to receive it (actually, the word is "them," because I now have three and will buy two more when the last two Henry rifles arrive). Look at the pictures in this review. Take your time with the "layout" and the foam. Get the case. Get the case. Get the case. Make yourself happy.

Great Box for the Price! Minimal Issues.
Right out of the box you can tell this is better than the $40 walmart/rural king gun cases you see on selves. The walls are noticeably thicker all around and the latches are much better built! The handle has some padding and it very hefty. Some of the pros/cons I noticed are:1. The padding that is made to pull out is not very well cut along the top and bottom. In my image you can see the bottom left still has some to be removed but I'll have to get an exacto/razor knife to cut it cleanly. All throughout some of the pre-cuts were not good and left a ragged/ripped look after removing. I'll need to address these to give it a smoother appearance throughout. RECOMMENDATION- for the pull foam do all of your laying out and pulling upside down and reversed - that way when you're done you can flip the foam over and it'll look right without any tears or sharpie lines left over. Wish I had thought of that sooner!2. The lid piano hinge is very thick but does not open all the way - just up into a 90' angle.3. Each latch around the box has it's own plastic locking mechanism - 2 are keyable - these can be difficult to open single-handily but do add a sense of security they won't bump open. You have to pull out on this tab before you can disengage the latch.4. Really a minor thing, but you don't have to pressure down the latches at all when locking - they just click shut - I wish it took a little force to lock the case so I KNEW the gasket was engaging properly. I'm not about to expose it to water to find out.

Plano 36" AW Tactical Case
This is a great case. When I got this, I went to Walmart and bought 2 cans of Plasti-dip and sprayed several coats on BOTH sides of the foam. I chose which side looked better and flipped it over. I laid out where I wanted my 10.5" 300 Blackout, with mag inserted and Vortex Sparc II red dot, and spare Hexmags. I then outlined the 300 BO and cut foam with a box cutter. I then flipped foam back over and laid the 300 in, made a few adjustments, and put a few chunks of pulled foam back in the cutout to elevate the gun. I don't like it sitting all the way down on the bottom layer of foam....makes a better presentation. I then pick-and-plucked, no need to cut, the rectangle for the spare mags. I still have room for a future sub-compact 9mm and its mags. The case itself is very nice. Great case to take to the range and probably good enough for airport travel. It's very sturdy and well built. Five really nice latches with 2 being lockable. Three layers of foam provide plenty of protection for your firearms. It has a pressure release valve on the bottom...a feature most cases don't have. Now, is it as good as a Pelican? Frankly, I don't really care. I'm not an operator in a combat area and I don't plan on stress testing it. It is, however, PLENTY of case for my use and will protect my firearms. It should take quite a lot of abuse....quality built. And for $50 on a warehouse deal, there wasn't even a thought of considering one of those "better" and much, much more expensive cases. I think the high review ratings speak volumes to how nice these AW Plano cases are. We all can't be wrong. BTW I plan on buying a 42" one soon for my 18" 5.56.Update: 9/4/2017....I bought my Mod2 and have added it to the case. Came with 6 mags, holster, mag pouch, and double range bag.

I changed out the foam.....wow.
Very tough, well built case. Holds my AR perfectly. Should travel well.It would be nice if the foam was a little stiffer.UPDATE 05/07/15:The foam is indeed the weak point of this case. It is not High-density foam. It's way too soft and sags badly. The pick and pluck idea was a mistake too. It makes the cut out way too blocky.I purchased some "57mm Fastcap Kaizen Foam" from Amazon. This stuff is the bomb. I used the old foam as an outside diameter template and it went right in. Not sure what kind of foam Pelican uses in their cases but I doubt if it's better than Kaizen. There are videos on this stuff. Look it up.I've included a photo with my AR shadowed into the foam. If this case came with Kaizen, I'd give it six stars.

Great Rifle Case
This is an excellent case for my AR15. Just the right size and very strong. The only thing that I did not like about this case was the included foam. I took my time and tried to make it work for my rifle . But Removing small foam blocks to fit around non square objects was not very practical. I followed another buyers review and purchased the Fastcap Kaizen Foam. What a difference. Again I took my time. First I traced and cut the silhouette of my rifle on a piece of cardboard. Then transfer it to the foam with a permanent marker. The key is to set the blade depth for one layer at a time. Is time consuming but well worth it.Kaisen Foam https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007J2JJYK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Fascap Kaizen Knife (Super Sharp) Only use the original blade for my setuphttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M42VKHY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Replacement Blades https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M431SIE/ref=dp_cerb_2

just awesome! very solid all round
just awesome! very solid all round, great snap catches, really well made and at £70 was a great buy! I would pay full money as you do get top quality value. the foam insert is easy to work with - top tip - use plastidip spray to solidify the foam once you have cut everything you need into the foam. helps it really get firm and prevents tear out in the future.

excellent gun case
took one day to arrive, its a nylon plastic its not brittle clasps are heavy duty, the hw 100 tk adjustable stock rifle fits really well, it has plenty of depth so you can leave the side focus wheel on, its rock solid when closed, theres still room for bipod and other bits and peices. i would have given it 5 stars if it had solid foam but the pick n pluck isnt the end of the world you can still carve it out with a electric carving knife then glue the cut peice to the bottom peice i used contact adhesive ps turn the bottom peice over so its flat on top, once its done carve a bevel around top edge of gun hole, so when you place the gun it doesnt tear the foam blocks out. it took about half hour to do this. this is a very nice very strong case and looks the part too. i would buy another one.
