Very pleased with the quality of this sheath for the money. I easily would have paid much more for it.

Tried a few others that either didn’t fit or were poorly made. This one is perfect. Bought a small for my hatchet and a medium for my axe. Excellent quality.

The leather is very thick. The rivets and stitching are well done. It was easy to wet it for fitting and it has a lot of holes in the strap to accommodate various sizes. It is a little big for my American-style 1.1lb hachet, but that was expected. I will trim some excess strap material once I am done fitting and conditioning.The discoloration in the photo is because it was starting to dry after fitting. I will treat it with neatsfoot oil once the water evaporates out.

I have now purchased 2 of these sheaths. The quality and looks of the leather and buckle are really excellent. I purchased the vegetable tanned versions and then used Sno-Seal Beeswax on the outside and some knife oil on the inside. The sheath includes a 1oz/30ml bottle of synthetic oil protectant for metal (nice touch Helko). Both sheaths turned out beautiful with a marbled look. If you like this style sheath and enjoy personalizing your sheaths, then I would highly recommend purchasing! If you just want it to come "ready", then spend the few extra dollars for the finished (dark brown) option. This makes your axe look like something passed down from your Grandfather and makes a great display showpiece. I can't help but stare at it! And yes, the medium is the correct size to fit the Cold Steel Trail Boss Axe. It looks like Cold Steel patterned the Trail Boss on Helko Werk's European design, so it pairs with the sheath perfectly!

Leather is thick. Rivets placed strategically and stiching is stout. The strap and bucke are strong with enough belt holes to get nice gental snug fit. Now I'm safer from cutting me or someone else and it will protect all the work I put into getting it razor sharpThe discription was accurate so I picked the perfect fit for my re-handled (2-1/4 lb) axe. I'm much more accurate with it than the 3+ pounders. Now it won't get it dulled in transport or in the tool locker.All I did was extra was add two coats of neatsfoot oil and topped it with mink oil. The leather doesn't get wet but does hold water inside so I dry it out inside the edge protecter so the hatchet won't rust.This is a high quality sheath. It exceeded my expectations after purchasing so many junk imports from C****.I recommend this sheath to anyone who wants a superior, easy to use product to protect all their effort put into sharpening their axe.
