Barbie as The Island Princess

My daughter and I loved the Barbie movies when she was young. I really like how they portray strong young women! This was one of our favorites!

It came in right on time! I am introducing my little sister to the barbie movies and she loves them. She's only missing a couple dvds and this one came in just when I needed it! I grew up with the barbie movies and if you're looking for a movie with catchy songs, a "tarzan trope", and SPOILER when Ro reunites her with her mom it had me in tears. A beautiful story and one of the best Barbie movies!

One of my top three barbie movies ( 12 dancing princesses and princes and the pauper are the other two). Highly recommend due to the beautiful music and story. This movie still holds up well over a decade later

I’m a 23-year-old girl and yes I still enjoy a great cartoon everyone’s a while. I think this was one of the last Barbie films I liked when I was younger and then they started all getting kind of weird and redundant in my opinion. This one’s got pretty good songs and a pretty good little story, not the greatest movie of the year but definitely fun to watch especially for Barbie nostalgia.

My four year old has just become interested in Barbie and this is the third movie we have watched. The animation is not great (as my husband says, it looks like late 90s video game quality) but this doesn't bother my daughter. I am more interested in the content and this is a pretty good movie on that count. Here are some of my favorite points. The Barbie character (Ro) considers the animals she lives with to be her family, and when she explores a new place and tries to find her human family, the animals come with her. When Ro meets the prince, she saves him from some alligators. The prince is impressed by Ro's skills and abilities, not just her beauty. The prince has three small sisters whom he seems to adore. When the prince argues with his father and gives up his crown, he says that he will step down and his sisters will rule. The baby elephant is worried that Ro and the prince will get married and not have a place in their life for the animals. Ro explains that she will always love them and their family will just expand. When the villain is revealed at the end of the movie, the prince and Ro both chase her but Ro actually is the one who apprehends her. The music is fairly good and there is decent dialogue. Overall this was well worth the price and my daughter loves it. I have been picky about which movies I'll allow my daughter to watch and I appreciate the detailed reviews of other parents, so hopefully this will help someone else out.

My wife is 24 and most say she is too old for Barbie movies but she was raised on these movies and when her mom passed recently she was on a kick to collect them all! She is the biggest Barbie movie fan ever and this movie came in great condition!! I am definitely going to order more for her!

My family and I loved this movie and we have seen every Barbie movie. I find they really make an effort to create a nice story, with a real plot, lovely songs, and a nice message. I find them very well done, they could easily make them cheap and boring with unimaginative CGI (as someone else mentioned)but, I think they put a lot of heart into these movies. I thought this story had a unique twist to it(in terms of Ro's struggle to be accepted) and visually all the Barbie movies are very beautiful, escpecially this one. My only complaint is that the main character is always blond, blue eyed, caucasian Barbie and I think children deserve more reality, they've done the blond thing over and over (and there's nothing wrong with it) BUT it's time to move on and give a more realistic view of women. Maybe in the next movie Barbie could take a sidekick role so we could have a little healthy cultural variety, they do it with their dolls why not with their movies? Other than that I recommend this adorable touching movie and I quite enjoyed the songs.

I loved that i was able to add this to my collection of Barbie movies. This is such a great musical too! It has been played on our dvd player so many times, that the whole family knows the words to these songs! Such a happy uplifting musical for any child to enjoy

This is a great movie, My girls really enjoyed it and love singing along with the songs it it. Received quickly and in perfect condition!
