Very affordable
I bought this to replace my wife's old flip phone, which she prefers, but the old was only 3G, this is 4G. I like it, it has a lot more features than the original basic flip phones. We've used TracFone for 20 years, it's inexpensive, less that $10 month. This phone is well made, sturdy. Almost as heavy as a smart phone. It does have a decent size glass screen. I like the keyboard, immediately available to type in a number and call. Real buttons. I've never liked the smart phone tiny keyboards, good for a teenager but not for me. I'm going to buy another for myself to replace my smart phone. I want something more compact. We only use these for emergency calls when we're away from home. For the price, this is a very good phone.

only FLIP PHONE available, as of the moment...
My 85 year old mother likes to carry a phone with her for occasional use. She doesn't need or want all the bells and whistles of even the most basic smart phone. Her old flip phone (TracFone LG L442BG 3G) would be no longer functional as of 2.22.2022, as TF discontinues all 2G and 3G phones and migrates to the newer 4G LTE network. After a lengthy conversation with TracFone customer service, it was determined the MY FLIP 2 was the only flip phone on the market compatible with TF service as of the moment. TracFone themselves were out of stock, or I believe they would have provided her with a free one. I was very happy to find this renewed phone at a very reasonable price. The only downfall of this phone, as far as my mother is concerned, is you are unable to see your remaining minutes and service time on the display on the front of the phone. The only way you can get that information is to call or text TF, and they will text the information back to you immediately. Not a deal breaker, but not what she's used to. Unlike her old flip phone, which offered minutes only (and texts which were deducted from minutes), this phone offers minutes, SMS, and data. Texts are very cumbersome, using only the number keypad to enter each letter. The phone itself, while renewed, looks brand new. The protective stickers are all in place, and it is clean. Do yourself a favor and remove all protective stickers, especially the one covering the speaker, or trust me, you won't be able to hear a thing! I found it very cumbersome to set up her contact list; the center navigation key coupled with the "soft keys" were not intuitive. Amazon's description says this renewed phone is "Backed by a one-year satisfaction guarantee." However, the box says it’s only 90 days. In my experience, Amazon will stand behind their promise, so I'm not too worried about that. Transferring minutes and service date from the old phone to this one was NOT seamless. It required several calls to TF customer service. If my experience with TF CS figured into my star rating of this phone, it would bring my rating down to a single star, or less. My favorite call (NOT) was the one where after 36 minutes on hold (I was only 32nd in line at the time) I was finally connected to an agent, only to have the call disconnect 30 seconds into the call. Start over, OMG. Literally, it took all afternoon to accomplish the transfer from the old to the new device. For those of you who are able to accomplish the transfer without involving TF CS, you are lucky, and this inexpensive phone will suit you well!

No complaints
I bought it to replace the same phone that my son broke in less than a month 😳 obviously not super sturdy but I love the emergency button on the outside. Also, it can’t hurt to have two batteries. I didn’t use the sims card it came with since we already had one. Very easy to navigate once your brain understands it’s not a touchscreen. Update Aug 2024: Sometimes my phone dies and I need to use my son's phone so I've had more time to use it. Good phone if you primarily use it for *talking*. Texting is annoying. Voice to text is inconsistent and often inaccurate. So only efficient for short texts. Group text is a mess! You can see the group chat but replying means that each person will receive an individual text message. There are a few fun old school apps available. No flash or selfie mode for pictures. Things like the radio (need headphones to use it) and the speakerphone only work when the phone is open so not able to put the phone comfortably in your pocket when using it. i’ve had to transfer the number and minutes for this phone model with tracfone customer service twice. The first time calling customer service 3 days and speaking to like 10 people! The second time it took like 10-15 minutes and I only spoke to 1 person. So you never know how it will go. Cant beat the price so still worth it!

Very good but takes while to start up
I do like the phone quite a bit. The battery life is good and it’s a very good size to fit in a pocket. It’s very much like Android but it’s not and you can’t put Android apps on it which is sad. I do like how the speaker sounds and the speed is pretty good too. Just I don’t like how to enter in a password. With the T9 but I get it, considering how a QWERTY keyboard will not fit on this phone. It gets connected to the WiFi pretty fast. Would 100% recommend!

Difficult to use. Keeps disconnecting from the network.
Screen has way too many options, and the most needed ones are not on the first screen. You can change this with difficulty but the need to reset to factory defaults frequently makes this a pain. This disconnects from the network about once a week, and is nearly impossible to get reconnected. It is Tracfone, being used on the Tracfone network, but can't seem to stay connected. It works fine for a few days, then refuses to take calls or let you get to voicemail. Granted, we're in a low cell phone connection area, but we do get one bar and it works fine on that for a while, then gives up. I don't want to spend another 4 hours on my other phone with Tracfone support trying to get it to work again. It took a factory reset to get it to work again last time, which wipes out all of the data, and you can't save it ahead of time, so you have to hand enter the contacts again. The interface to enter contacts switches back to predictive with every entry instead of staying at Abc, so entry is difficult and you have to switch it to Abc with every entry. This is the only basic phone available to low end users that can't do a smart phone with their TracFone data plan. So sending it back isn't an option.

overall a solid C: s'ok, although you will drop all attempts to connect to the internet
So I bought this refurb as future backup for my current similar version that i bought new but is a bit out of shape, because the Alcatel Tracfone providers stopped providing the free flip phone option when you replace your complimentary safe-link/life-link phone. So when the Alcatel TracFone Free Service Providers lost the Nokia Gift Phone Contract, I needed a new phone. I originally bought this one on sale NEW for less than $20 and overall it worked out great because it also had a flip phone style and large number pad that many people like. As it's no secret that prior to my injury during the sept 11, 2001 period in which many persons unfortunately did die, a lot of money was stolen before the failed abduction before the injury. However, the government in kind recognition of my as fortunately survived critical combat injuries as a civilian gentlewoman investigator on behalf of main federal and world health as a lawyerSurgeongeneticistMDPhdJD, despite myself(JJ) being a Swedish celebrity, and proud USA citizen, frequently credited under aL, most popularly as since 1995 or so, for the popular Versace Ads and Angels campaign for the Catholic church under VS that has been super popular encouraging fans everywhere to begin great wardrobe and life choices with appropriate lovely underLayers worlwide (the DisneyWish/MakeAWish-VS-fashionWeek-type-Event-Trunkshows are legendary for inclusivity of nontraditional types walking side by side with classic nordic beauties as myself and others in the greatest show on earth!) in addition to federal underwriting these wonderful programmes to boost morale, they also made sure that many world citizens in the USA and Europe had access to basic humane services including the free phones and service you may have seen advertised locally for seniors, veterans and injured parties. And the wonder of these types of social services don't stop there! This has been a great phone. I hope they manage to keep the price below $20NEW so people can continue to purchase if they choose the flip-phone style option. But the refurb looks good although I won't need to turn it on as my old one is still working. Overall a great type of phone although no, you won't be able to connect to the internet, they all drop for some reason and google assistant and facebook apps seem unsuccessful in trying to fix this issue with these flip phones, so that's the hitch that might be the deal breaker with a flip phone, but if like most people over 30, you like a phone that's just mainly suitable for calls and lite texts and a few photos, this is definitely worth looking into. Basically despite the flaws, it's still pretty ok as far as simple usage goes! Although if you want something a bit prettier, Nokia still has a version of the flip phone available on Amazon for under $150dollarsUSA. Still, not bad overall a solid C!;or 3.125Stars!

Father Happy!
Spent a while trying to field my elderly father a flip phone, he’s not comfortable with touch screen at all and all he’s been asking for is a simple flip easy for someone his age to make calls to his loved ones. The product is seamless, good quality, easy for seniors, a lot of functions for a flip. Thanks for still having these, you made someone smile when I was able to give him that phone. Ty

I really like it
This phone brings back a lot of memories. I wanted to get one to remember what it used to feel like to use this type of phone. It took a bit of getting used to the interface again but it is so much fun to use. I would purchase this because it gives value to the price paid for it. The phone works great and looks great too.
