Great professional/shop TPMS tool
Working with TPMS systems involves several operations:- Activate (wake up) TPMS sensors- Unlock some sensors.- Unlock some Toyota/Lexus/Scion ECUs that go into a loop and prevent the vehicle from functioning correctly.- Read TPMS sensors (id, air pressure, temperature, sensor battery condition, sensor frequency, high line - low line status- Relearn the sensor IDs and positions, to the ECU unit (after tire rotation/sensor replacement) via OBD.- Provide vehicle specific step by step relearn instructions- Program replacement aftermarket sensors, from different manufacturers, either with an existing sensor ID (clone) or new ID, proper protocol, frequency (for multifrequency sensors) etc.- Read DTC codes to diagnose the TPMS system.- Adjust vehicle placard pressures in the TPMS system, to have the corrected pressures when the tire type is changed (low profile, width, load capacity etc.)There are many tools that will have some of these functions in them, but few have them all. The VT56 is one of the few ones that will do it all.The VT56 also includes a bar code reader to read the VIN from the decals on the vehicle. It comes with the OBD adapter that allows the tool to connect to the vehicle for relearns/dtc reading, etc.On top of everything TPMS, the VT56 will store vehicle readings, and allow them to be transferred to the computer via a USB connection. Each vehicle's readings can be labeled by Brand, Model, Year, Owner, Vin, tag, etc.Optional accessories include thermal printer and Tire Tread Depth Gauge (TTD). The TTD allows for 3 tread depth readings per tire (outside/center/inside)The tool comes with one year of free software updates, that add new vehicles, new aftermarket programmable sensors, vehicle specific instructions for relearn procedures, etc. (Edit 06.23.2020 It came with two years free updates)The tool itself is on the bulky/heavy side, and the screen is NOT a touch screen.Entering job information is time consuming as the tool has an on screen keyboard, on which you select the letter/number/symbol by moving the cursor with the cursor arrow buttons.
