A must for preschool teachers
I use Dr. Jean's ideas to set up my preschool room following the ideas from Wonderful Rooms Where Children Can Bloom. This is a great extension for ideas to add to the classroom. I am getting excited for summer vacation to be done and my students to return to school so I can implement so many new ideas. One of my favorite things about this book is how many ideas there are to include family involvement such as making a book about each student's favorite foods. The families will send in labels or fronts of boxes. The student will make a book using these labels. It's a great beginning reading activity.I also can't wait to implement clipboard writing. There's a great idea of how to make inexpensive clipboards for the students to use. This is going to be such an exciting year!

Excellant Resource for parents too!
I bougt this for ideas of fun literacy activities to do with my 2.5 year old. I am a parent and not a teacher, it is worth owning, even as a parent! The activities are great for different ages. Also, it really doesn't require a lot of materials that you don't have.My list of things I needed (and you might not, depending on the ideas you select and how you implement them) to buy from this book was:notebooks and some larger paper or writing board.

You can never go wrong with Dr. Jean.
I have been to a Dr. Jean workshop and was hooked. She is so excited for learning and the book shows this. Great ideas for early childhood classrooms. Wish more people would realize that young children have a unique way of learning. Thank you Dr. Jean!

Someone With No Experience, Can Educate Too
With no teaching experience, what so ever, and a toddler getting into everything, this book has turned me (and my house) into a literacy fun factory! The ideas are simple but put together thoughtfully and inspires me to educate!

I ordered this thinking it was something else. I ...
I ordered this thinking it was something else. I wish I could have previewed more of it first. I was hoping for letter specific activities to begin teaching my 3 year old her letters. It has more generals activities.

Learning Letters is Fun!
I have this book as a part of a homeschool curriculum for my toddler and I love it! It gives hundreds of ideas for how to bring letters to life in hands-on ways. The activities are non-specific meaning that they can be used with any letter, I appreciate the flexibility. This would be an excellent choice for the library of a preschool teacher, child care provider, or parent who wants to work on early literacy skills.
