I'm not a vet, I'm a guitar tech who replaces a lot of pickups.Seymour Duncan has been using hose like this for years as the spring to hold pickups in the correct position. That tubing does disintegrate and break down over time. On a recent guitar upgrade the new 1/4-pounder Seymour Duncan pickup came with little tubes that were not long enough for use on my MIM Stratocaster.The nice thing about tubing instead of springs is less noise. Springs can resonate and make mechanical noise, rubber tubing can not. I noticed on my 2006 Fender MIA Stratocaster that they have started using tubing instead of springs.Now I've got tubing in stock and can cut it to whatever length I want or need. You must use a very sharp razor knife to cut this tubing cleanly.Thank you Amazon for making guitar repairs fast and easy.Good music to all!

Worked great as pickup springs on my strat. No buzzing and it's a great fit. This length means I'll have plenty to replace it down the line if I need to.
