Great conclusion to the series <3 Jared & Sam
4.5-5 starsThis was a great conclusion to the trilogy. Sam and Jared were great together and I found that I loved them even more, the longer I saw them together. When the story beings, It's been 5 months since Jared and Sam had their binding ceremony. Things are going well for the couple and they're doing their jobs leading their squad and accomplishing whatever tasks Antonio (the Grand High Master) has for them. Now there are indications that difficulties are coming their way. The first is a pair of investigators from the Prelature. The prelature is a vampire org that is sort of like a church in that they perform the sacred ceremonies of the vampire world but they aren't religious. They oversee things as a neutral party and have a significant influence over the vampire community. Someone made false complaints about Sam's fitness as a commander in Antonio's legion and the investigators have been sent to see if the reports are true. Unfortunately, the 2 investigators aren't exactly neutral. The first, Collins, was the first vampire made by Antonio and when Antonio became the Grand High Master, Collins thought that automatically made him Antonio's heir. Collins wasn't happy to find this wasn't the case and now seems to want to cause trouble for Sam just to cause Jared issues because of his jealousy over Jared being Antonio's heir. The second investigator is a female vamp named Eloise. She had a one night stand with Jared a while back and now she's making sure to rub it in Sam's face and trying to push things to get Sam to do something that will look bad to the prelature. Sam isn't really threatened by her but having to not react to all of Eloise's attempts to get goad Sam isn't easy.On top of this, Sam, Jared and their squad are sent on a mission and find the unexpected...a breakout of a vampire disease. Vampires are usually immune to diseases but there seems to be a specific vampire disease known as "The Reaper's Call" or just "The Call" that shows up every couple centuries and takes out some of the vampire population before it goes dormant for another couple centuries. When some of their people are bitten and infected with The Call, Jared and Sam have a lot of their hands, trying to find the cure to a mystical disease that no one has ever been able to stop before (or even really study enough to figure out how to stop it). Antonio had actually been planning to step down from the position of Grand High Master and pass the ruling spot on the Jared and Sam but this gets put on hold as they try to handle all the issues bearing down on them. Through this all, Jared and Sam hold strong together even when they have some difficulties to work through. There's a lot going on in the story as multiple plots come together in a very satisfying conclusion to the story and series. Jared and Sam continue their HEA and there's plenty of happiness to go around as a few other couples seem headed towards their HEAs as well.I greatly enjoyed this story. The whole series was great and this was a really wonderful way to finish things off. The story had me engaged from page #1 (or maybe since book #2 might be more accurate) and I was sucked in all the way through wondering how things would turn out. I liked both Sam and Jared separately but they were perfect for each other and I loved seeing them together. I'm very satified with the way things tuned out and my only complaint is that it's over and there will be no more new stories about Jared and Sam. *sigh* Obviously, I'd recommend this story (and series). 2 thumbs up! :D

Humor, Hot Sex, lots of Action -- Must Read Series
Taste of Torment is book 3 in Deep in Your Veins series and I recommend reading the first two books before this one. This is a wonderful PNR series so start at the beginning if you haven't already! This book has a ton of action, danger, suspense, heat and some humor thrown in that makes it an enjoyable ride that you'll have a hard time putting down. Antonio has decided to step down and make Sam and Jared the Grand High Pair. Sam isn't sure she'll be accepted in this role and that's with her hybrid status a secret. If that isn't enough to stress Sam out then being investigated for accusations on your conduct as a commander, a disease that's turning vampires into zombie like killers, and one of Jared's one night stands taunting you definitely is! Of course Jared knows Sam inside and out and has no doubt that she can handle everything and he'll be standing next to her to help.“It seemed that people had a habit of underestimating my blunt, crazy, homicidal ray of sunshine” I loved that even though Sam and Jared didn't agree on everything and they had their arguments you always knew they loved each other and would be there for one another. The drama wasn't within the relationship but with all the crazy events surrounding the couple. This series is a must read if you like humor, action, hot sex and enjoyable characters. I love how far Jared has come from the first book when quite frankly he was a bit of a jerk and a bit of a misogynist. If you haven't read Deep in Your Vein what are you waiting for? This is one series worth reading!

Loved it!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow- I still can't believe that I would have missed out on some awesome books if I wasn't put in touch with this series. I follow all of Suzanne's books, but never read this series because I wasn't into vampires. What a travesty! This series is awesome. It's time for Antonio to step down. He's ready to live (so to speak) and Jared and Sam need to takeover. They thought they had time to just hangout and command their squad, but now they have to prepare to lead all vampirekind. Unfortunately, they have to deal with an investigation, a threat to their squad and family, Jared's former bed partners, an invasion of The Hollow, and keeping Sam's hybrid status undercover. Easy right?Sam is awesome as always..people are always amazed when they realize how much they've underestimated her strength and intelligence. Jared's dedication to Sam is unmovable. He adores, loves, and worships her and will kill anyone who tends to bring her harm and heartache..but he'll also beat her ass if she puts herself in danger..that may not a punishment, but you get the drift.I loved this book so much that I read the end just to see how this was going to end. Yes, I did😉 I was so upset about how Sam was treated and how all of this was going to pan out, that I couldn't help it. Jared is such a slut..his conquests are always challenging Sam...even Joy is still around. The Binding means nothing to these people...but Sam, Jared, the squad, and some new friends are prepared to do anything to protect each other, vampirekind, and The Hollow. If you have not read these books, you are missing a great story and another kickass, smartass woman and the men who love them.Moving on to the next one.

Maravilhoso!
Divertidíssimo e viciante, este livro vale a pena ler. Se possível, leiam os anteriores, pois assim é possível perceber o crescimento pessoal de cada personagem. Muito bom mesmo!

Addictive
This series is so darn addictive. I have been hooked since the very first book in this series and it keeps getting better and better. I love Sam and Jared's chemistry, the emotions, the pain, love , heartbreak.... I've felt each and every emotion right alongside the characters. Can't wait to read what happens next.

A Gripping Race-Against-Time Adventure.
Suzanne Wright is still a relatively new-to-me author and this is only the third book of hers that I've read but she is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. I love her writing style; the pace she set for her story, the characters she creates and the gripping plot-lines.I loved that this book brought out so many of my emotions; yes, I did growl like a wild woman at times in frustration, I wanted to hide from the violence and cruelty and yes, I did shed a tear or two. But. I also smiled and chuckled out loud a lot at all the lighter moments, humour and well written banter. ;-)I enjoy a story more when the female protagonist is intelligent, resilient, resourceful, self-reliant and has plenty of gumption. Sam ticks all those boxes and more. I love her sense of humour, sarkiness, loyalty and her an innate sense of right and wrong. All the characters that Ms Wright has created for this series are complex and multifaceted which makes both the villains and heroes feel real.Once again, I downloaded the narration by Justine Eyre and P. J. Ochlan and enjoyed the variation that these actors brought to the duel point of view from Sam and Jared in this book. The only niggle I have is that, to my English ear, Ochlan's version of Sam's London accent not as good as Eyre's and he doesn't seem to have as many accents in his arsenal as she does but, despite this, they both swept me up with the story and plunged me feet first into the adventure.Taste of Torment is a bloody good book and a great addition to this series.Due to the sexual scenes, violence, colourful vocabulary and expletives throughout this story, I would recommend this book to adults who are not offended by content of this sort who love stories about kickass heroines and deserving alphas within the adult paranormal romance genre with story-lines about tenacity, loyalty, fighting against insurmountable odds and soul saving love.

Fantastic Finale!
This was a fantastic finale to Sam and Jared’s story. When I started this book I felt like the last one was enough for them but having now finished it, I’ve decided I was wrong. These characters are all so entertaining. I can’t wait to keep reading the series and each new couples story. I hope we get them all.
