Protection against termite
I had some windows replaced so wood was exposed so that I could apply this product. My Bug company recommended this. I mixed it in a container and put it on with a rag while wearing gloves. There was no smell and it absorbed quickly. It was a fair cost and a much needed product for an older home in Florida

No mess no fuss - but will need some time to see if it works!
Decent product though we have only just applied it so cannot vouch for how it performs over time yet.Dont know why but every tub of powder was packaged in the box upside down. May not be a huge deal but a bit risky if box were dropped - though perhaps the tub would split regardless.Application was easy with backpack sprayer. Did not alter the finish of our pine logs (log home) and rails. Created a fine crystalline texture but not an issue - stained right over it once dry. Will update review once I have some time on this batch!Update after 12 months (5-20-2015) - We had no viable activity on the home prior to treatment and nothing in the 12 months following. We did however just catch a bumble bee in action drilling some sizable holes in a treated post. There is sawdust residue down the post showing activity. The product does not claim to treat for Bees so I cannot complain but it was impressive to see this guy at work.I will next be using a tub or two to treat a barn with considerable powder post beetle damage. Plan is to cease future damage and then make repairs as needed. Will post an update on this ongoing project!

Time will tell.
I bought two bags which was more than enough to cover the back of my 56’ home, bare wood siding recently installed. We boiled one gallon of water and then instantly mixed the powder in and had no issue dissolving like other reviews have stated. On the first pass, we followed instructions with 1 gallon water to one bag of powder for the 15% solution. One the second pass, we did as another poster suggested and mixed with half gallon of antifreeze, half gallon boiling water, one bag of powder. It instantly absorbed into to wood so much faster than the first coating. Ease of use and price of product is a win for me! Only time will tell how well this product works, but I’m hoping that I have as much success battling off termites as others have had! When I bought my home, it passed inspection for termites. In less than a year we started to find termite damage throughout the house. I used termidor foam in the house, taurus in trenches around the slab, and within 6 months found new termite damage in my shop out back, but none in the house or around the front of shop that was also treated. We redid the entire house and all buildings with the trenching and Taurus treatment and have seen no new termite damage since. Hurricane Harvey damaged siding to the home and I haven’t been able to repair this. We had an energy company test the home and found that there was tons of air leakage where the missing siding was. This was putting a strain on my AC and raising my utility bill to an astronomical size! I had enough Bead Plywood to use as siding but have been reluctant due to previous termite issues. This product, my research into it, and all of the positive reviews gave me hope. If I can use what I have, treat it with this stuff, and replace the siding and it work for a few years until I can have the entire home re-sides, then I’ll be through the roof with excitement! Only time will tell.

Great Pretreatment for Wood!
I have been using TimBor for years to protect my wooden-based investments. I recently got a new shed and treated that as well. One great tip is that instead of just mixing with water, you can mix with water and ethylene glycol (aka antifreeze) to better penetrate the wood. I just use half a gallon of undiluted antifreeze and half a gallon of water and one bag of TimBor. This essentially makes a clone of BoraCare for less than half the price. Just be sure to use it within a few days of mixing and use proper PPE. The ethylene glycol penetrates all the way through the wood carrying the borates as opposed to just water which penetrates about 1/4 inch. Ethylene glycol also acts as an insecticide and deterrent in itself since it remains in the cellulose structure of the wood. Also this does not alter the appearance of the wood as the amount of dye in the antifreeze is so tiny. TimBor is really good stuff and its easy to make it even better with this little trick.

easy to use, good termite treatment
We were doing some termite repairs on our wood deck, and I wanted to treat the wood for termites so we wouldn't have to do it again. This is what the termite pros often use to treat the wood in your house to keep the termites away. 1 package mixes with 1 gallon of water, and you apply it with a garden sprayer. Wear a mask; you don't want to be breathing the stuff. But you'll breathe a litle easier knowing you're less likely to get termites, and you spent a tiny fraction of what the termite company would charge.
