Little Giant 5-MSPR 1/6 Horsepower Permanently Lubricated Submersible Pump

I have bought 2 of these pumps in the last two years, both a failed. The last pump failed in weeks. I asked for a refund a but was told I could only get a replacement. I agreed to a replacement, but have yet to see it after a month. The seller is Champion True Values, in OH. They do no warranty the pumps themselves. They turn you over to the manufacturer, Franklin Electric, who still has not replaced the pump or even communicated with me besides platitudes. I will never buy from Champion Values again or a Franklin pump again. The first pump failed because of a bad seal, at least that was after a year. The second pump failed in weeks, based on the water color, I would say another seal issue. If you are buying this pump for a safety issue be aware it will not work when needed. At least my was only in a fountain and nothing got damaged when it quit. DO NOT BUY THIS PUMP!

This same brand and type pump was installed in a water feature from the original manufacturer. I have had to replace the pump more than 3 times. The longest they have lasted is 3 years. They are not in continuous use. Only during periods of time when we are on our deck and wish to hear the sound of running water. This last pump was purchased. In 2018 and has failed after less than a year. It has developed an internal short that trips the ground fault breaker that it is on. No durability in the design of this product.

DOESN'T LAST - THIS IS THE THIRD AND LAST ONE OF THESE PUMPS I WILL PURCHASE - FIRST ONE LASTED ALMOST 10 YEARS OF 24/7 SERVICE IN DECORATIVE FOUNTAINS - SECOND ONE LASTED ABOUT 4 YEARS - THIRD ONE LASTED 9 MONTHS - NO MORE OF THESE PUMPS - REASON I HADN'T CHANGED BRANDS WAS EASE OF INSTALLATION SINCE FOUNTAINS WERE PLUMBED FOR THIS ONE, BUT IF I HAVE TO RECONFIGURE PLUMBING TO GET A MORE RELIABLE PUMP, THEN SO BE IT. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS BRAND.

This is the 3rd or 4th little giant pond pump that I've had. The 1st unit lasted for over 10 years and stayed out in the elements, The next two lasted for two seasons. The last one only one season of approximately 2 1/2 months while at our lot in Florida. Once I looked at the one year warranty which is non existent when you buy through Amazon as a reseller as they are not considered an authorized vender by Little Giant. The price and convenientance is good, but the product doesn't live up to the name of Little Giant. If our new Presient make good on Products being prosuced in the the USA maybe thing will change.

I have been using a little giant pump for over 20 years in a small pond with no fish or plants. When this pump was made in the USA it always lasted at least 3 years. Since it was made in China it has only lasted for 12 to 3 months in the same exact service. The last one has only lasted 2 months. This one will be my last.

I purchased a Little Giant, locally, several years ago to be used in my fish pond. It operated/pumped for those years until May, 2015 when it finally gave out. I needed a new pump immediately and I found the best price on Amazon so I purchased a new Little Giant at the first of June. It operated/pumped for only 90 days and died at the end of August. I have no idea why it died, it just stopped working when conditions had not changed. I returned the dead pump to Amazon and was refunded about 70% of the cost. I ordered a new Little Giant for my pond and it has run continuously since the first of September. The pump seems to be running just fine so far. It is a great little pump as long as it is running. The jury is still out on how long this pump will last.

Would neither buy this unit nor from this vendor again. Defective after 2 months and failed. Now have to incur costs to contact and return to manufacturer and already paid to install the (Defective) unit Also.

I bought this as a backup to the centrifugal water pump for my fish pond. It works very well although it gets clogged a lot by leaves and other debris. It is easily cleaned but I have noticed an oily layer in the water when I have used it briefly. I'm not sure this is normal because I don't remember having this problem when I had one years ago.
