Heats up quickly. Boils water.
This hot plate heats up quickly. However, not quite as quickly as a full stove, but it does an excellent job when compared with other hot plates I have used. It boils water hot enough to make my kettle whistle loudly. I was concerned that the rails on the hot plate would interfere with larger sized pans, but the plate handled them with no issues. The diameter of the heating plate is right at or a little over 7 1/4 inches. This hot plate's heat is easy to regulate. Its feet set securely and evenly on the counter. (I don't know if this is possible, but some little rubbery caps on the feet bottoms would be a plus.) I needed this hot plate for the upcoming holiday cooking, and I am very happy with this purchase, so far. This plate is replacing a convection plate that just could not meet my needs -- it couldn't bring water to a boil and took forever to heat up. Not so with this Techwood plate. The box was crushed on one side, but the contents were in perfect condition.

Easy, Compact, and Powerful Little Burner
I bought this after reading several reviews. I recently moved into an older home from the 1920s, and the range that was in here just had to go. I am still renovating and needing something simple to help do some light cooking. After giving it a go, I am so impressed!! Positives * Love the look, I would love a black stainless but the stainless steel is a nice look overall. * Boiled water VERY fast for me, I read some reviews where it was iffy for them but I had no issues at all. Just a medium-sized regular pot for me and it did the job very quickly. * Also was able to scramble some eggs quite quickly as well. Over all, tends to heat thoroughly for me. Negatives * I wish it had a different temperature knob on it, so you knew from "Low - High" etc. You can pretty much figure it out with ease though. * Only other negative I had was, just because I sometimes run about doing other things, I wish it had an alarm that could be set to remind that its turned on. Yes, it has a light so you can just utilize that, but I tend to set myself alarms on my phone anytime I utilize kitchen items just to make sure I remember to turn them off. Would just be a nice quality of life addition, nothing really horrible by not having one. Outside of that, I am so excited and happy to get to use this little burner. If you're looking for something at a good price point, and need a burner for anything, I would totally recommend grabbing this!

It heats up quickly and has good to moderate controls of the temperature.
At this point in time I have used the hot plate for about a week. I found that it is a good product it Heats quickly it's easy to clean and you don't have the pesky Easy Touch buttons that turn the thing off when you're moving your pans around. It is a little smaller than I thought but it hasn't been an issue even with a 5 quart pot. I would recommend this product I have another one of their products that is an infrared heat cooktop, and that's what pushed me to buy this one they're both very good products and I've had no problems with it.

Great For The Price
Works great for small applications - or at least what I think is pretty small. Heated oil to deep fry in a 8qt ish size pot. Got the oil plenty hot enough for my needs - fried up some egg rolls nice and even. Cooled down pretty quick and easy to clean. Easy dial, not fancy and if you have a thermometer, you will be fine. Lightweight and portable.

It's just not hot enough. Plus it's unsafe.
I got this to heat a pressure cooker for mycology and it doesn't get hot enough to boil the water. At max power the heating element still cycles on and off. It's probably fine for a small sauce pan or frying pan but if you're looking to cook a big pot of spaghetti, it's not going to happen. For detail I've been waiting for over two hours for 4 quarts of water to come to a boil. The pot sounds like it's trying to get there but still no steam. Looks like I'll have to go back to propane. Update: Just for grins I decided to let it keep trying. Now, three and a half hours in, it's still not boiling. Plus, the power control is dangerously hot. I couldn't turn it down without a potholder for insulation. Took away a star due to safety considerations.

Love it!
I burned the food the first two times I used it because I underestimated how hot it could get and the lenght if time the plate takes to cool off. I am now getting the hang of it and I love my electric hot plate. It is sturdy, stable and the right size for my trailer.

Do not purchase for boiling water for any sort of cooking.
The first time I used this was to cook meatballs. I first preheated the burner then used my 12 in cast iron skillet and it worked perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised. My second use was to boil water for pasta. This is not suitable for boiling water. I preheated the burner for 5 minutes on high. Then I measured 4 cups of water and put it on to boil. 25 minutes later I still did not have a rolling boil. There was a barely visible bubbling on the bottom of the pan.
