I do like Greenwood essential oils, in fact I'm a bit of a fan, and couldn't wait to try this Peru balsam oil. It's steam distilled and is extracted from tree bark. I wanted a good quality oil, and this didn't let me down. Peru balsam oil has a number of uses. Firstly though, a warning: people with sensitive skin should use this sparingly, in a carrier oil base, because it can produce a reaction. However, used properly, it is efficacious in treating wounds, skin ailments, asthma, even scabies. It can be used for dental problems too, though I prefer not to risk it internally. The oil is good value and comes in a box with a push in pipette.

Peru Balsam, also known as Surinam, Black or Indian balsam, has a wide variety of uses in the commercial world, such as fixing scents in perfumes or hardening soaps and as flavouring in wines or cakes. On its own it has a musky, slightly sweet smell with a tiny twang of mint. It is very, very thick, hence the advisory note of warming it up prior to use. However, as microwaves denature foods, I would personally use an oven or some hot water to maintain the purity of the oil. Greenwood Essential provides the largest array of oils I have ever encountered. Moreover, they are good quality and barring the carrier oils, which are always over-priced, are excellent value for money as a general rule.

I am reading reports that I was not aware of before about this being a strong allergen when coming into contact with the skin. Please do your research. This is unfortunate as it smells absolutely wonderful! Perú balsam essential oil is thick and sticky it needs warming up before use, but carefully otherwise it can apparently destroy its properties. Peru Balsam has a mild but deep, rich aroma that is woody yet sweet with vanilla. It also has a very subtle hint of cinnamon. Five Stars, but I will be using it sparingly, and carefully! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍

greenwood essential peru balsam essential oil ================================== This has a nice smell, but please note this is the concentrate! Admittedly I'm a layman when it comes to diffusers - I thought these were the small bottles I normally buy that you just drop into some water before using with tea lighters or diffusers. With this you get very little instruction - just a bottle of very thick oil - it comes out like very thick honey. There is a note inside the box recommending microwaving the concentrate before use, but you actually need a ‘carrier oil’ to use the concentrate. After a little research I found you can either buy the carrier oil or use your own - can use coconut oil, avocado oil, seed oils and even some (but not all) vegetable oil. Seems you need a safe oil, ones that don't smell too much or are odorless. So you need a jar/container to add the oil first, then add the concentrates (you can mix and match complementing fragrances) - that's where microwaving for a few seconds will thin the concentrate allowing it to come out easily. Once mixed, you will need a funnel and a smaller bottle to store the created mixture. I struggled with this as I didn't have any of this, just the normal diffusers - I will need to research more to try and find which carrier oil is best/better to use. The peru balsam which I chose almost at random, hoping for a flowery smell, does indeed have a nice light fragrance - reminds me a little of vanilla.

Beautifully designed packaging, looks very aesthetically pleasing. The packaging contains information about the product. The oil has a thick consistency with a pronounced pleasantly sweet sugary odor. The kit includes a special plastic dispenser for a more accurate use of oil. The oil is very valuable in its composition, which is well suited for the treatment of skin diseases. I add it to creams, it helps a lot in healing blisters and wounds.
