Q: Contents of this product

I checked with Bausch & Lomb about the ingredients as I didn't see any inactive ingredients. Some eye ointments have lanolin in them, which I am allergic to, but Bausch & Lomb's Soothe Nighttime ointment is just what it says -- only mineral oil and petrolatum.

Q: So, it costs 33 dollars for petroleum jelly and mineral oil?! Why not just use Vaseline or mineral oil in your eyes?

Because anything put into your eye needs to be sterile, so you don't get an eye infection. Vaseline jars say it's intended for skin use and minor cuts only. It cannot possibly stay sterile coming in a wide jar that allows you to put your fingers in it. On the other hand, this product comes in a tiny squeeze tube that lasts no more than a month if used once daily, thus reducing chances of it becoming contaminated. Always wash your hands (or use hand sanitizer and let it dry) beforehand if you use your finger to insert it in your eye.

Q: What’s the expiration date on this?

I purchased my product approximately one month ago, December, 2019, and the expiration date on my box is July, 2024. I could barely function due to severe dry eyes and this product helped the most. It’s preservative free which is hard to find in eye products. Of course, it’s an ointment so can only be used right before you fall asleep. I use GenTeal Tears during the day. At first, I was using the drops hourly for about two weeks then as I improved, I tapered off. Now I know I must continue this routine if I want to maintain moisture in my eyes. Good luck.
