Red Hills Fruit Company Pie Filling, Marionberries, 29 Ounce (Pack of 4)

I was hesitant at the price of these but having lived in Oregon and Washington and knowing how special Marionberries are I had to order them. So, needless to say, we got the all Marionberry case. When I opened the first one I couldn't believe how very thick it was, amazing. I decided to add granny smith apples to spread it out a bit (not too many) and made two pies with one bottle. Now I'm on the second bottle and have done the same thing. Probably better to only use only Marionberries, but still delicious. I can't rave about this enough. We sent these to our daughter, one one that had four different types of fillings, and she was so excited that she could just use the filing and have great pies having arrived with Prime the day before Thanksgiving. Yes, it's expensive, but if you like Marionberries, you are getting the best and I don't see anything else out there to compete. For my husband and I Marionberry pies are Oregon and Washington good taste. We are so happy to have it available to us in CA. A hint: sometimes you can go directly to a company and get a product cheaper, but in this case, the amount you would save, is wasted by their expensive shipping so best to buy with Amazon Prime, but 15% with Subscribe and Save. The saving on Subscribe and Save is significant. Also, if you are going to make a Marionberry pie, though the mixture is thick, to make it jell for a pie add just a bit of oatmeal, you can't tell it, and it doesn't affect the taste, healthier and stays together. Another hint: They are testing out the batches now (the company) and hopefully they won't add a bunch of starch to this since starch does break down, it's not as healthy and is dilutes the flavor. Right now the Marionberry pie filling is concentrated, flavorful and thick with very very little starch. Tell the company (Dundee Fruit Company) to keep it the same.

Great pie filling

This is a great cherry pie filling. It does have the chance of pits, but you just need to be aware. The pie I made was excellent! Not too sweet, not too sour, and not runny if you let it stand for the proper amount of time. I first bought 1 jar to try, then have bought the 4 jar package. Arrived in perfect shape. Well packed!

I am SOOOOOOO sad that Red Hills is no longer available. Absolutely the best!!!! I first found (and bought) this brand on the King Arthur Flour website...and they sell the best of the best products. If you have any way of obtaining this fruit filling, give it a try!!!

First I don't leave many reviews, but love reading them. I had to leave a review on this stuff because I thought my wife made a bad decision because of the price. However being from Oregon we really missed Marionberries. After trying this in a pie and as a topping for pancakes in the morning I can say it is sublime. They do not add too much sugar and the berry flavor comes out amazingly. The price is steep, but there is an amazing amount of value. One jar is about one pie, and we have used one jar for nearly 10 breakfasts, delicious!

Discovered Marionberries on a trip to Portland. It was love at first bite. Did I mention I hate cooked fruit/pies? These berries are the exception. We don’t have these berries in Texas so I have been on a quest to find them and stumbled across this option. The box was so well packed that a crystal or porcelain company must have been their model as the standard of excellence. The jars were huge and the flavor took me back to Portland. No, they aren’t as perfect as fresh Marioberry pastries from the bakery at Powell’s bookstore, but they are a close second to fresh for those of us in Texas.

Absolutely love this filling for our pies, won't use anything else! Thick to fill your pie with the best tasting filling available. Sure hope it comes available during the next season so we can have great pie again!

I ordered this previously and received a good quality pie filling with a silky gel and nice hunks of recognizable fruit. This order and the replacement item, which came from the same production batch, we’re the texture of pasty purée with no silky filling or recognizable fruit pieces. It resembled something that had been processed in a VITAMIX.
