The sizing is perfect for a 3 to 5 year old, with the puppy fitting easily into the lined bag. Not too little and not too big, just right. The 3 year old I gave this to took one look and fell in love. I mean in love as in it goes everywhere with her and the puppy sleeps with her. She has other stuffed animals but this one hit the spot---the color, the softness, the size. I bought this puppy for my only 1 year old niece. She loves dogs and very excited when she sees them. Yes, she is to small as this toy poodle. It is going to be very easy to hold for her. and the purse could be used by her older sister, whos is 4 years old. The only 1 star off is for the cost for this toy size. I would buy more for my other friend`s kids, but maybe if it were around $10-$15. But over all, the toy is very cute, soft and good quality.
