Works as advertised - but select your coffee grind carefully
Nespresso pods from Nespresso run between $1.10 to $2.00. While the pods are recyclable, the price is up there. We are also occasionally given gifts of coffee beans or ground coffee - which you cannot use with the Nespresso machines directly. So, we were looking for a solution to these problems. This kit appeared to provide a solution to all those issues, so we decided to order and try them.As shown on the ad for them, you get two caps, a small little brush, and small spoon. What you do is take a Nespresso Vertuo pod that you used, carefully cut and peel off the aluminum foil that was punctured when you used the pod. After you remove the foil, you dump the used coffee grinds and make sure you remove as much additional foil as you can without damaging the shape of the pod. Then, you wash it. Since the bar code is on the opposite side, it is now ready to be used. When ready to use, you take the empty pod and put in some coffee grinds, tap them in gently, and tap on the silicon lids. Then you use the re-filled pod as if it was a brand new pod. It reads the barcode and gives you a cup of coffee. When done, capture the pod, remove the silicon lid, dump the grinds, wash everything, and you are ready for the next cup.It all works and works well. The key though is to select your coffee and its grind very carefully. The first time we tried making a cup of coffee, we used an open bag that was already ground. It was a medium grind and three scoopfuls fit in the pod (which was supposed to make a 7.7 Oz Cup). The resultant coffee was very weak and watery. Not good at all!The next step was to take some of this coffee and regrind it to a much finer consistency. This time, it took four spoonfuls to fill the pod to the same level. This markedly improved the flavor. Lesson learned: You must use a fine grind - like the one for Espresso or Turkish Coffee when using this kind of reusable pod.

This works well and you will like it!
This little cap (you get two with this set) allows you to refill Nespresso Vertuo pods with ground coffee. This saves you money and also conserves resources. The product works very well, but here are some tips. First, you need fine-ground coffee, so buy either espresso grind or grind your own very fine. Second, use the provided scoop to put three scoops into a clean, empty pod, with all the foil removed, that you have saved from prior use. This product includes caps only, not a reusable pod. Use another empty pod to press the grounds into the pod. Add two-three more scoops and press the coffee firmly into the pod. Use the little brush to clean around the edges. Put the provided silicone cap on and press down. Use as normal in your machine, and don't forget to retrieve it from the receptacle! If the machine does not accept your pod, it's because you have filled it too full or there are loose grounds on top blocking it. I am very happy with the quality of the resulting cup of coffee. I don't get as much crema as with the commercial pods, but it is acceptable and the coffee strength is good. I like saving money and not throwing away pods. I do actually rinse out commercial pods and recycle them, but it is time-consuming and messy, and the slight inconvenience of filling and cleaning the reusable pod is negligible in comparison. I will still use commercial pods for the espresso and double espresso size to get that lovely crema, but for my normal morning cup, the resusable method is fine. I hope you enjoy using this product.

Not for coffee lovers
These just don't work like I expected. When I use enough coffee to have a full bodied flavor, my machine makes less than 1/4 cup and blinks red. When I use the "correct" amount, i.e., so my machine doesn't reject it, it tastes even lighter and grosser than Keurig pods/machines. This is with the full cup pod in the vertuo next. I have the same issue with the smaller espresso size pods. I was so excited to have an alternative to Starbucks which is not good quality coffee and Nespresso brand which are excessive in price and not very good. Now I'm back to those choices. Maybe the more expensive refillable alternatives are better but I'm completely turned off to even trying.

Okay Value
It says that it’s a perfect fit, not really a tight fit, after the capsule is ejected, the so called perfect fit will fall off. As a matter of fact, you can still spin this piece of silicone after you apply it to the capsule. Definitely reusable, still produces the Crema, but you must you use a fine or espresso grind. You must use a Vertuo capsule, the instructions tell you to fill at 70%, this will produce a very weak cup of brew. Probably why most reviews for flavor are poor. To brew a true 7.77 oz of coffee, the original capsules are packed with 12.5 grams of fine grounded coffee beans. A 70% fill will result in using 8.75 oz, a single espresso capsule contains 7 grams of coffee and a double espresso capsule contains 10 grams of coffee. The only way you’re going to get the flavor you are accustomed to, is to use the same amount, (weight wise) of grinds (each scoop is about 3 ounces) that the capsule originally came with. Keep in mind that each capsule also has a unique bar code on it. This bar code determines brew cycle time, water temperature, water pressure, and how much water to dispense. So in a nut shell, have multiple capsules available to test with, make sure to use a fine grind, don’t use an old capsule that has been laying around as mold has already been growing inside the capsule. Clean right after using. I will explore other options
