Airstream: The History of the Land Yacht

This fascinating history of the Airstream was of special interest to me. My parents bought a used Airstream in the mid-seventies and had several happy years of travel. Of course when we met them at a state or national park, we enjoyed good times and good food both inside of and outside of their Airstream. All that was missing in this chronicle were more inside photos, instead of the two photos and several drawings of happy folks cooking, eating, playing cards, and visiting in the Airstream. However, the book is still a wonderful history and contains excellent outdoor photographs from many countries. Who knew that the pygmies of Uganda were able to see a real Airstream? Who knew that the Airstream caravans reached as far as Russia and as India? The fellowship of the Airstream crowd comes through in a joyful way; an adventurous life for friendly people.

It's a great book for getting information for these campers. A little expensive but worth it. I definitely recommend for people are are interested in this type of camper. I purchased for my sister. She has this type of camper and is remodeling it.

A wonderful collection of Airstream's nostalgic advertisements, travel pictures from the 50s and 60s, and explains the history of the Airstream company. The vintage cars shown are just as interesting as the trailers. I'm shopping for an older Airstream to do a renovation on and this book gave me enough background to know what I'd be getting into for each decade of production. This book helps us today to visualize how to use Airstream's products to our best advantage.

Really enjoyed reading the history of Airstream development and the Wally Byam caravan stories and photos. This is a unique historical book which may not appeal to non-Airstreamers, but it is still a part of RVing history and anyone interested in vintage RVs may enjoy "going there" and seeing what was accomplished and how we got to where we are today with the tin can people movers.

I bought this book to gain some history of the Airstream. It was a fun read and definitely gave me the history lesson I wanted about Airstream. I love all the old pictures. It is just a fun book for all things Airstream!

What a great book that covers the airstream dream. The 50th year for the 1969 airstream and the 50th year that astronauts were quarantined in an airstream stream. After reading this book you will understand why these are handed down from generation to generation this book has it all.

This book is a must-have for anyone who owns an Airstream trailer. It is interesting, informative and provides a nice history of the trailer.
