The Best Way to Build Your Dream Arcade
As an avid arcade enthusiast, I've used several DIY kits over the years, and the EG STARTS Arcade Buttons 1 Player DIY Kit is by far the most impressive combination of quality, fun, and value I've found. This kit is absolutely deserving of five stars. Installation Simplicity: Everything in the kit is clearly labeled and designed for easy plug-and-play assembly. The wiring harness included makes connecting the joystick and buttons to the encoder a breeze. I had it installed and running in my custom fight stick cabinet in under 30 minutes. Beginner-friendly, professional results. Crisp, Responsive Feel: The star of the show is the performance. The 5V LED buttons have a satisfying, responsive click and register inputs instantly—crucial for fighting games and shmups. The joystick is smooth, features a classic ball-top design, and provides precise 8-way movement. There is zero noticeable input lag. Fantastic Aesthetics: The LED lighting is bright, vibrant, and really brings the arcade experience to life. It adds that authentic, flashy look you want in a custom build. The lights power easily via the 5V USB connection. Incredible Value: You get everything you need for a full one-player setup (joystick, buttons, encoder, and all necessary wiring) for a price that simply can't be beaten. This kit punches well above its weight class in terms of quality. If you are building a MAME cabinet, a retro console controller, or a custom arcade stick, STOP LOOKING AND BUY THIS KIT! It delivers on every promise.

Good value
This is a good value. Everything worked as expected. I was pleasantly surprised to find mechanical keyboard switches inside the buttons. They are soldered in place, but if you know how to solder you can easily swap them out with different switches if they were to break or if you want a different feel or to add some more sound with some clicky switches. The joystick is very solid feeling.

Worked well for my retro arcade controller
Used these for a retro arcade game controller and no issues with configuring them. The ports are labeled and the buttons feel solid.

Not the greatest but best value for LED buttons kit
First off, everything works great. I put everything into a shoe box just to see if it worked ok and it does. However, I happened to have some other arcade buttons I got out of a silly toy at a goodwill and compared to these buttons, the ones included in this kit are 'meh'. They aren't clicky, they just 'mush' down. The red button in my picture is the goodwill one and has a really nice click to it and the whole plastic / button pieces are modular. I'll end up using my goodwill buttons, but the kit buttons are still nice to have for accessories like power/reset. Played a few emulators with my shoebox and it was pretty nice. Make sure you note which way is up and down on the joystick though. Everytime I configure it, up is down and down is up, left is right and right is left.

Bright and clicky
These look very bright and feel great. The actual pushbuttons (caps) are a bit smaller than other 30mm arcade buttons, but the units fit nicely into the same size holes. The "blue" microswitches give a nice, tactile and audible click when pressed. The three-pin terminals and matching motherboard make set-up easy, as opposed to separate terminals for LED power and button triggering. The included lever feels nice and the five-pin connector is super convenient. I love how the motherboard has additional +5V terminals for things like an illuminated joystick lever if you were to buy one of those separately. Also you can pop off the caps with a screwdriver to add labels to the colored buttons like the "COIN" and "Start 1 Player" buttons have. If you don't mind a slightly smaller button surface and want some illumination in your arcade setup, grab these.

Buttons stick quickly
Just a few days of work and the buttons are already sticking. That might be fine for personal use, but I am building something for a device that won't be attended by me. :( This set is a bargain, the lights work great. Everything was easy to setup. The buttons are all the same size, which some of the reviewers are confused about. The white buttons that say COIN and have a human figure can be easily disassembled and the stickers removed. The USB encoder appears as a Joystick when plugged into a PC. As far as I can tell the USB encoder can't be programmed to send different keystrokes than the joystick buttons. So I use "Auto Hot Key" to essentially bind the joystick buttons to keyboard strokes.

Decent and affordable buttons for a virtual pinball machine
This set of joystick/button/usb controller combination was the perfect set for my budget minded virtual pinball machine. The price for this set was very affordable and the buttons light up and function as they should. Though I’ve used these buttons for everything from coin adding, game start, plunger, nudge and flipper buttons, I might choose to upgrade the flipper buttons in the future for more responsive switch buttons. Overall, the quality is great for the price and the controller board was easy to map using a software such as Joytokey, Antimicro or Xpadder. The responsiveness of the buttons and joystick are acceptable for my likes.

Great button and joystick kit.
Great button and joystick set for a RetroPi/Batocera setup. The buttons light up nicely and aren't distracting. I'm also very pleased at just how well the buttons feel as I'm playing. Very satisfying tactile feel to them, exactly like a standup arcade machine. The installation was painless. Just attach each button to the supplied usb interface and you are good to go. The plugs are small but they are keyed so you can't plug them in wrong. It was all instantly recognized inside my RetroPi setup and Batocera. After going through the configuration, I was playing within minutes.

Wow, these are the brightest lights I've ever used on an arcade cabinet. Not the best quality buttons but exactly what you expect for the price. It all works fine.

found out the buttons will only light up in a different configuration to actual guide, had to check YouTube video for same and video was wrong but look at the comments about the wiring to find the right way to install cables. White buttons received are also smaller than the others with no sticker like other comments, yeah they mentioned u might get version 1 or 2. Stick screws also way to short had to removed the metal plate to install without it. Pain in butt to have to take it all apart for return.

I received the "new" version, which went together quick and easy. Slapped it into an old box in about an hour, and it was immediately recognized by my pc. I found one of the buttons wouldn't press properly, but it disassembled easily and I was able to remove some obvious plastic flash with a hobby knife, whereupon the button was restored to proper working order. Another button simply feels different from the others- "soft" as opposed to "clicky"- but it functioned fine. Lastly, the PCB has a number of 2-pin function ports, purportedly for quickly engaging turbo-fire and clear functions. The kit, however, does not come with any 3-pin (button) to 2-pin (PCB) cables, or any 2-pin cables for that matter, so these ports are not usable out of the box. Altogether a really fun and cost-effective kit for assembling your first arcade stick. Cardboard is surprisingly workable, but I look forward to building a proper enclosure for these parts out of MDF and acrylic (no way am I paying for a prefab arcade stick box).

It's just the pieces, and you need to put it into a box of some sort. Works great with PC/Samsung A5/ Raspberry pi. Lots of fun.
