Another delightful catchup with Cass
Another wonderful dip into Cass`s world. Snuggle by the fire and allow yourself to be transported to Shetland and this time its winter. Only a few lines in and this amazing writer has set the scene and mood for yet another series of troubles that Cass seems to find herself in. You could be at the kitchen table enjoying a catch up cup of tea with her as she relates her latest escapades. These tales which now involve her partner Gavin the new DI on Shetland more = are a little mysterious heartwarming and funny. But through it all run characters who feel alive - you could know them just from the few words which sketch them. Not only well known characters such as Magnie and Pirrie Charlie, but the other children who nave just been background characters in the previous stories like Drew and Valia and Rainbow now growing up and having interesting voices of their own. These emotional and charming books are addictive and long may we be taken to this beautiful landscape populated by warm totally believable characters and Cass of course who manages to get into so many scrapes patiently supported and gently understood by Gavin. Just a joy!

Good read
The author really wanted to show off her knowledge of Shetland dialect and language, but it was a good read, and quite informative about the area.

Top plot from Marsali as usual
Casa reluctantly gets involved in a complex family dynamic which ends unexpectedly as usual. Once more a magnetic read - how does she do it?

Becoming a bit too heavy on the sailing/geography/Shetland language
I am just re-reading the very first; 'Death On a Longship' to reacquaint myself with the original characters. The Shetland references; language/people are charming and the geography and current situation instructive. Please don't overdo the 'local' at expense of a good story.

Shetland Mysteries
I have read the whole series and enjoyed every one. The books follow the exploits of Cass a young yachtswoman in Shetland and Gavin, a police inspector for Police Scotland. Their slowly evolving romance amidst the investigations of murder have kept me reading. The other peripheral characters also feel like old friends and I'm now waiting for the next instalment. The Shetland countryside and way of life are almost another character.

Enjoyable
This took me a while to get into but the descriptions were amazing - you really felt like you were there. It has entertained me so much that I will look for more by this author.

Another great Cass Adventure
I thoroughly have enjoyed reading The Shetland Sailing Mysteries so far and this one didn't disappoint. The drama of the goings on but also the development of Cassandra Gavin with Shetland folklore /history and knowledge added to the mix. A most enjoyable read and with the descriptions you could be there. Looking forward to the next book.

always a fascinating story
I love this series and hope for as many as the writer has in herself. I particularly enjoy the scots and the Gaelic .

Shetland Looks and Sounds Surrounding a Mystery
Great local scenery and nature details. Intriguing story line. Now, if only M. Taylor could get her objective pronouns right….

Taylor’s titular mystery story
This one is her best SSM outing — suspense, multiple mysteries, varied levels of humor, and oh yeah — Christmas. Recall the romp of the Thin Man movies of Powell/Loy ... yeah, kinda like that!! Enjoy

Another fabulous read
I've read the whole series and enjoyed every page. The characters are realistic, and the reader is made to feel genuine care for them. Certainly the plots are carefully constructed and, often, surprising. I hope, hope, hope there will be more of this series. I urge you to read the whole series starting at the beginning. Enjoy!

review
A very interesting book. The Scottish islands are a breed of their own. Their language is so different. But, a mystery is a mystery no matter the language. It twists and turns and keeps you guessing. You will not be disappointed. Now, I just need to find more.
