Great series that shows no signs of flagging
DC Emma Bellamy is the only detective in the Supe Squad, she's responsible for the first Supernatural Summit which is taking place in a London hotel and it's imperative for her professionally but also for Supes in general that the summit is a success. It's been difficult enough to persuade the different Supe factions to come under one roof, now she has to worry about human protestor and a scurrilous gutter journalist who will stop at nothing to get some dirt on the Supes.Added to which an omega wolf has just returned to London after a decade's banishment and is nearly beaten to death outside Lord Horvath's house, and a random human has decided to run around naked in Central London claiming he's a vampire. Funnily enough, both claim to know something about a mysterious man called The Chief. Then if things weren't tense enough The Chief is found murdered in the hotel, it could only be one of the Supes - but if word gets out that a human was murdered by Supes, there will never be any peace between humans and Supes.Yet another engaging, funny and intriguing mystery in this series. Less reliance on Emma's phoenix abilities this time and the identity of the murderer was a surprise - so that's good.

A Thrilling five-star read
A Thrilling five-star read. This is number five in the Firebrand series and they have built to a fantastic boiling point, of the summit, but will the story boil over or keep bubbling? In my eyes it bubbles along nicely, not too much that it made it crazy, just enough to keep you hooked. Honestly D’Artagnan just melts me and the supe squad just keep me smiling. Do not miss this amazing series.

Amazing as always
Yet another amazing story from Helen Harper, who never ever fails to disappoint. Emma is getting stronger, wiser and is gaining confidence in the world she has found herself in, straddling human and other. Beautifully written, gripping enough to read in a single sitting and the sort of book that has me thinking of the story and the characters every waking moment that I am not reading it. These last with me for a long time and I can't wait for more.

Emma
I love Emma and her vampire partner and their adventures in the world of supes. This one goes along at a good pace with its cast of evil and good characters and the story is entertaining. I hope the author will soon have another story for Emma and lukas

Excellent book
Good to see the plots are continuing to a high standard. I enjoyed the chase, seems our hero’s job is always on the line and there are time constraints. Will she won’t she take the easy way or stand by principles ? Good to make us think. Good book.
