The Barn: The Lives, Landscape and Lost Ways of an Old Yorkshire Farm

An original rural history
I initially thought this book might be too full of prose for my taste, I’m pleased to say that I was wrong. It is a delightful rural history pulling together the story of a farm barn in Yorkshire. It sidesteps into the reasons for the Enclosure and Turnpike acts with the effects that they had along with many other such issues. Very well researched, particularly in the local history that surrounds the Barn. A really good read for anyone interested in British rural history.
