High End, Versatile, Powerful; Competitively Priced
Extremely versatile power house audio/video receiver for an exceptional price. My 15 year old Yamaha receiver was working fine but the video / sound processing standards were out of date with the new 4K/8K TVs and newer sound technologies. The RX-A6A Aventage has all the latest HDMI standards along with a ton of video and sound processors Yamaha is famous for. It has 150 watts power across 9 channels which is more than the average household will use. I always buy receivers at the higher end so they can handle most any setup I need with power to spare. I have large front speakers as part of a 5.1 surround system. I have a second outdoor zone with 4 outdoor Bose speakers. I also have a Sonos system to drive other units in more rooms. I play movies through a Blu-ray player and Apple TV and a Cable Box. This receiver handles all of this with ease plus has intelligent HDMI switching to help simplify powering on the receiver for the proper device. The user is online but is extensive and searchable. The remote is reasonably straight forward and has buttons that can be programed to turn certain components on with various parameters like which HDMI inputs/outputs, speakers etc. There are many surround processing options to simulate various concert halls, churches, jazz clubs, of all sizes. This is a receiver for serious audiophiles that are not into simple front sound bars. It has bluetooth, wifi, Apple Air Play and Music Cast options. It also has a nice easy to use user interface that displays on the TV that helps you set up your receiver and navigate the multitude of options. I found the price on Amazon to be more competitive across the board. I highly recommend this receiver.

Better than all the competition
This receiver surpassed all my expectations. I am a long time, Yamaha fan and this was a replacement for the A-10 80. It has higher quality DACs and the sound field with Dolby. Atmos is very impressive. The only drawback that I see is the MusicCast app which replaced the Yamaha app on your phone. Unfortunately, the music cast app is not intuitive or user-friendly. You can get used to using it, but it is not what it should be, which is very sad for a company like Yamaha.

Nice receiver
I bought this to replace n older RX-A2020 that wqas malfunctioning. The new receiver was east to set up and connect because it was a direct replacement for the similar older receiver. Sound quality is good and the new receiver supports the latest dolby and DTS formats Noticable improvement when watching movies. Old receiver had a much better front panel display and provided a nice screen to manage source and volume from my PC whenn I set a browser tab to the receiver ip address. The new receiver lacks this feature and requires me to use a smart phone app to do this (far inferior to just selecting a tab on my browser). This is why I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 New receiver does let me link to it from my PC by entering ip address\setup\ From the screen, I can configure scenes and all the other configurable items on the new reciiver. Thias made setup quite easy. I set scenes for all the ways I might use the receiver allowing me to select them by pressing one button on the remote. DSP modes for listening to music are the same as older receiver. These are the reason I chose a Yamaha over other highly rated receivers.

Great Receiver
Great receiver. Uses all my speakers. The built in surround modes are awesome.

I hope I can pay off this entertainment system before the wife finds out.
Holy man this thing was expensive and I think I might be underutilizing it. It was easy to setup, connect, and the sound quality is excellent. If my wife finds out what I paid for it she will kill me, then I won't be able to pay off the second mortgage I needed to get in order to pay for the whole system. No lag, so many options, I am not sure what most of it does but even so, it sounds and looks so good and connects to everything in my system. It made my screen somehow better. I no longer have a cable box, eARC works amazing.

Great sound.
I bought this to replace a previous Yamaha receiver that was damaged when lightning ran through a TV it was connected to. This receiver has outstanding sound. I initially had some issues with the surround but was finally able to get it corrected by putting the mic a few feed in front of and between where we sit when doing the room analysis. The only negative is that it seems to have difficulty with the CEC commands sometimes, switching from one connected device to another when it shouldn't.

It worked great for about three weeks, then crackly audio drop-outs. Returning.
The Yamaha RX-A6A I received on July 15th started audio crackle, then audio drop out issues 19 days later. The audio issue was with HDMI sources, as well as the Yamaha's internal internet radio feature. Manually power cycling the devices in the signal chain in a cold start fashion resulted in a brief reprieve, but then continuing with the brief crackle sound an the audio dropouts. My AV components ar e plugged into regulated power sources, and the unit resides in a cool ventilated area. Even though I bought the unit in 2025, the patch version before updates was from 2022. I don't know if this suffered from sitting in a hot warehouse for a while, or if the seller not double boxing the shipment caused it excessive shock during delivery. I was loving the features of the Yamaha, until it stated failing.

Just terrific
Love this receiver. It's the heart of my 9.1 Atmos home theater system, and setup was so easy (and largely automatic) that I thought I must be missing something!
